New! Caron One Pound, Caron Simply Soft and Herrschners 2-Ply Afghan palettes - thank you to BetwixtTheStitch!
New! The Herrschner's Worsted Palette - thank you to BetwixtTheStitch!
New! We've just added the palette for Deborah Norville Everyday Yarn! If you knit and/or crochet, this is for you. This is a beautiful yarn with a nice feel to it, a good alternative in worsted weight acrylic! (Thank you again to BetwixtTheStitch!)
New! The Red Heart Super Saver Palette - thank you to BetwixtTheStitch!
Welcome to Stitchboard! Feel free to sit and stay awhile. Check out our new Premier features. In addition to the ability to create larger patterns (up to 500 stitches wide), illusion knitting and private labeling (no more worries about editing those pesky and messy PDFs), we've just introduced Filet Crochet, our most popular request! We have many more features planned, too!

I just added support for those who want to use .webp image files.
There are a few different sub-formats within this image configuration so currently you may need to make adjustments to section 7 to get better patterns from webp images.
Currently line drawing .webp images will work better than photos but it really depends on how the image background was saved in the program that created your image.
If you can't get a good pattern, try using a photo editor to load the image and save it in a .png or .jpg format and use that new image.
I'll be making a few adjustments in the future to the better support all the various sub-formats but for now we have basic support.

Hello very nice site, thank you very much.
I'm emroidering. What should I do to create a cross-stich pattern with pictures larger than 150 stiches?
Kind regards
Good day! My name is Anna Grafilo, and im 16 years old. Well I dont really see the point of having to introduce myself but ill be glad to share my thoughts as i start off cross stitching. I found a box full of threads.. if thats what you call it lol and its owned by my mom. IT IS A LOT and it would be such a waste if i dont try and be knowledgeable about it. Also, I think arts in embroidery is going out of style and becoming dead as I see from my generation.. so then by that, I want to make it come alive but the thing is how do i start? I want to have my own pattern but I dont know how to make one Also, I have no idea on how to read patterns, the color scheme that I saw.. idk its just alot I need one hell of a guidance.. Can someone willingly be there for me all throughout this embroidery. Email me annagrafilo17@gmail.com or leave me a message in facebook Anna Grafilo. Thank you so much!
Ok, newest update photo of the loom beaded background for the vulture tapestry I am almost to the end of! 37 more bead lines to go!!!!!! I am trying to get the beaded part done so I can concentrate on the ahrd work of finishing it off and ready to hang. Kinda' funny with a piece this large that as I approach the finish line it gets harder for me to want to continue. It's like I am so ready to finish I have to tell myself it will never get to that point if I don't get busy and bead!! It has come along and looks better than I expected or imagined.

Buggg66,
Welcome!
What a cool
design!
The first
thought that occurred to me is the font is too thin to do more than
blob up, as you can see. What the freePatternWizard isn't (at the
moment) is an editor. It looks at anything made of basic thin lines
and doesn't really know what to do with it.
The font here is actually more suitable to backstitch,
which we don't offer at this time, though it's in our
plans.
The next thing is about your image.
What file format is it in? If it's in jpg, the format will have
shades of other colors in it and extraneous characters you can't
really see just by looking at it. This will confuse the
freePatternWizard, which will take the colors it sees and "report"
them as those other colors, as in different shades of red in this
case.
The best formats to use are gif and
png, because those don't introduce extraneous colors. But you can't
go from a saved jpg to a gif, because the colors are already there
in the file.
Next, are you sending an image
that is pixel-to-stitch, e.g., 50 pixels across = 50 stitches
across? Since the freePatternWizard isn't an actual editor, if you
don't send it an image like that first, it will do its best as it
tries to expand or contract the image, but the results won't be
great.
Finally, you also need to pay
attention to thin lines here, too. If your image is set (for
example) for 50 pixels as opposed to 200, a thinner line or smaller
dot may disappear, being too thin or small for the
freePatternWizard.
The good news is that
it's not at all impossible to work with such an image; mostly, you
need to be mindful of what's going on with the various things
mentioned above for a good result.
Hope that
helps!
