New! Caron One Pound, Caron Simply Soft and Herrschners 2-Ply Afghan palettes - thank you to BetwixtTheStitch!
New! The Herrschner's Worsted Palette - thank you to BetwixtTheStitch!
New! We've just added the palette for Deborah Norville Everyday Yarn! If you knit and/or crochet, this is for you. This is a beautiful yarn with a nice feel to it, a good alternative in worsted weight acrylic! (Thank you again to BetwixtTheStitch!)
New! The Red Heart Super Saver Palette - thank you to BetwixtTheStitch!
Welcome to Stitchboard! Feel free to sit and stay awhile. Check out our new Premier features. In addition to the ability to create larger patterns (up to 500 stitches wide), illusion knitting and private labeling (no more worries about editing those pesky and messy PDFs), we've just introduced Filet Crochet, our most popular request! We have many more features planned, too!

Hello. Totally new to stitchboard, and love the possiblities that come with this graph generator. I just wondered if someone might be able to clarify for me please... the stitch required when doing a crocheted afgan would be single crochet stitch, yeah?
I also wondered if you could clarify for me also, that the 'count' on the generated colour palette refers to how many stitches of that particular colour, yeah?
I am pretty sure that the answers to both question as yes, but really want to make sure before I go and start on my design. I look forward to any and all replies.
Thanks kindly
Nikki,
Welcome!
At this time editing functions aren't available; this feature is currently in development.
In the meantime, have you tried using a graphics program to edit your image before sending it in to the freePatternWizard? If you're using a PC and you need a program, I can recommend two free and very powerful ones. Unfortunately, I can't say how to use them, but there are user manuals and tutorials available for free.
Ava,
Excellent!

I'm not sure
what you mean by an inset crochet pattern, but no, mosaic isn't a
technique our software will handle and nothing can be done once a
pattern is made to turn it into something else, beyond starting
again with your original and making different choices.
If, when you mention an inset crochet pattern, you mean
a graph, my suggestion would be to start from your original image
and choose a graph instead of or in addition to a word
chart.
As for mosaic, part of the reason we
haven't addressed it is there's no particular definition of mosaic.
I've seen a few different definitions of mosaic, but nothing and
nobody seems to agree on what this technique is.
Hi Terry & Melanie, I'm thinking the 'math'
behind C2C graphs would be very similar to that of a sc line by
line graph, but you would limit the width & length of the
finished parameters. I'm not really a math genius, far
from it in fact, but that would be my thinking on it in simplistic
terms, obviously Terry has a math brain and could go into it
further than my noggin' can handle!
P.S.
Thank you for the free pattern wizard.
Hugs,
Naomi from Australia
