New! Caron One Pound, Caron Simply Soft and Herrschners 2-Ply Afghan palettes - thank you to BetwixtTheStitch!

New!  The Herrschner's Worsted Palette - thank you to BetwixtTheStitch!

New!  We've just added the palette for Deborah Norville Everyday Yarn!  If you knit and/or crochet, this is for you.  This is a beautiful yarn with a nice feel to it, a good alternative in worsted weight acrylic!  (Thank you again to BetwixtTheStitch!)

New!  The Red Heart Super Saver Palette - thank you to BetwixtTheStitch!

Welcome to Stitchboard!  Feel free to sit and stay awhile.  Check out our new Premier features.  In addition to the ability to create larger patterns (up to 500 stitches wide), illusion knitting and private labeling (no more worries about editing those pesky and messy PDFs), we've just introduced Filet Crochet, our most popular request!  We have many more features planned, too!  Laughing

Hasina,
Ah, autocorrect! So much fun...not!
If you're talking about a pattern you've created with the freePatternWizard, unless it's something different (like Tunisian), yes, it would be single crochet. The only reason we don't specifically call it that is because in some countries (such as England), single crochet is called double crochet, lol. Nice and confusing.

Eafears,
Welcome! Smile
You're correct that the freePatternWizard designates the length for you. This will be changed in a future version, but when it was first written, we were concerned people would either truncate or skew their patterns, so we decided to let the freePatternWizard figure the length based on the dimensions and aspect ratio of the original image.
Until then, the best suggestion I have is to add borders to your original image, to bring it to the exact 180 across amount, so that the length is the 198 rows you need. Since the length is coming out too long, you would need to add side borders so that your image will still be the 180 stitches across, but then the length will be shortened when it goes through the freePatternWizard. It will take some experimentation to come up with the correct number, but that's the most optimal workaround we have so far, until the next version is available with the customizable length. Unfortunately, I can't give you a date for when that next version will be available.

Kathy,

I do have a comment and 2 questions.

First, I always suggest using a pre-sized image that ideally is the number of pixels across that matches the desired number of stitches across.  Sending an image that's 4000 pixels across and having the program reduce it to a much smaller figure will certainly introduce unwanted colors.  This is just a byproduct of re-sizing.  So if you want your pattern to be 300 stitches across, ideally re-size your image to 300 pixels across before sending it to the PatternWizard.  This also allows you to be sure the image you send is as clean as possible.

One question is whether you're manually selecting the desired colors.  The update I'll be turning on soon corrects a problem relating to manual colors.

My other question is what type of image are you sending to the program?  (.jpg, .gif, etc.)

Terry

I would love to be upgraded!

Thank you!

Neave,

LOL!  Laughing  I think that's fantastic, though, to go from non-interest to creating great art!  Kiss

Of course, it was very new and who would ever think something like that could make art?  If you'd told me about loom bands a few years ago, I would have thought that was weird.  Bands...on a loom?  No way!

Glad you were able to find something to take your mind off of things...it must have been awful to have the surgery like that.  Cry  And it's wonderful how you've persevered to get to the point of making 3D items!  Kiss
