- I have been sewing by hand since I was a child making doll clothes and simple embroidery. Made my first dress on a sewing machine when I was about 13. Taught myself to crochet and knit (with a book) when I was about 19. I was in my 20's when I took up cross stitch. Then I moved to candlewick embroidery, Swedish weaving and Hardanger embroidery. Last year I learned to needle tat.
