he gets mobbed by fans every single weekday when he goes into the radio station to do his show and when he leaves in the afternoons there's always queues of fans waiting for him for photos and signings

yep it's helped a lot and i love the fact that he's home every single day and no longer touring for months on end and living out of suitcases in hotels and no  massive gaps in the hours in time between us he's hsted his radio show for 2 and a half years now and he's won best radio show and best radio presenter for both of the 2 years and the best bit he works 10 am - 1 pm monday to friday

What a perfectly ideal schedule!  <3  I'm sure he also prefers being home instead of on the road.  I've heard all about what a nightmare that kind of schedule/life can be...geeze, no thanks!  We're homebodies here.  Not that we don't like to travel...we do, but on our terms, not because we have to.
This reminds me of a line from an old Dan Fogelberg song, "I said the audience was heavenly, but the traveling was hell."  Do you think that about sums it up for Nicky?

it was awful as i couldn't always go with them or fly out a few days later to join them where ever they were in the world
