Just as I figured.    It's no excuse at all, but of course someone would rather sell drugs to someone with money they can just hand over without thinking about it than someone who has nothing at all.  And you're right about the security personnel, media gurus, agents, publicists, etc, all of the people who can protect them from reality.  It's funny...ever read a tell-all book written by someone in the media, only to discover they were a huge drug addict or whatever?  Geeze, all of the time you're thinking they've had a great life, and they've spent X number of years chasing after whatever it was that got them through...while ruining their life. 
That's kind of why I don't really ever want to be a big name celebrity, not that it's going to happen, anyway, thank goodness.  Big parties and big name celebrities don't interest me...really, they're ordinary people who have managed to get into a popular field of employment, one that can be very forgiving when it comes to crazy behavior or addicted behavior.  In a way, that kind of field can be a crutch to lean on, so rather than giving up an addiction, for example, one can keep going with it. 
In a way, I feel much more privileged, even though I have my own tough problems to deal with!

Wow I never realized what ome of the powerful topics you and my beautiful wife discuss but your both right Shay and I have met mega stars over the years in our line of work music as Neave's said and some have been completly and utterly addicted to all kinds of crap I have no tolerance for people like them yeah ok fair enough I'm easily recognied and stopped by fans for autographs fine but I'm still just a normal guy a husband and a father I take my kids to school and pick them up again and I have a beautiful disabled wife who needs my time and attention and care - Nicky

celebs can readily access drugs,booze,tobacco because they have the money and the security to cover up and lie for them and prevent exposure to the media  while the ordinary person can't always access the drugs,booze,tobbacco and don't have body guards and security personnel and media gurus to lie for them

That's great that you don't pander to them, as that type of behavior might actually feed into their addicted behavior, so kudos to you for doing the right thing by them!  <3
LOL, though I said that wrong...I didn't mean the treatment they get...I was wondering what the percentage of drug-addicted celebrity stats are as compared to non-celebrities who become addicted.  My guess (and that's just a guess, as I have no way of knowing) is that proportionately, celebrities are far more likely to become addicts.  And if it's true, that might simply be connected to better access to drugs, since they tend to make a lot more money than most people.  I'm sure there are people all the time trying to sell or give them drugs; obviously it would be much more lucrative to find a celebrity than finding someone without the means to pay for drugs.    Probably the latter would do things to get the money, such as stealing, but someone with the money would have a lot more disposable income at hand for immediate payment.

in my years of nursing after i left the army i've treated celebritites and non - celebrities and the celebs don't get treated any differently by me i don't pander to their every whim when they are on my ward they are just another patient and they have to wait their turn just like every body else

Family always comes first with me there\'s nothing I wouldn\'t ever do for Neave and our 4 wonderful children they are my entire world and I\'m on cloud 9 right now as we have a princess and I was so convinced Neave was having another boy

I'd never heard of him...how sad.    (Found info about him talking about his substance abuse.)  Of course, it does tend to happen to celebrities quite often...it would be nice if we could compare celebrity addictions to non-celebrity addictions, and see how much different the stats are.

yeah they do and with me being disabled also that seems to help the disabled younger fans approach them as for twerp and mongrel i hated them 2 even as kids shay and i grew up all of our lives with them in our home town sligo shay went to school with them poor shay

That's awful about the guys who let fame go to their heads.    No excuse whatsoever to shove around fans, particularly disabled ones.    So mean. 
Sounds like Nicky and Shay understand and care very much.

it did with kian and mark twerp and mongrel they are heartless especially to the disabled fans they shove them away and refuse to sign anything for them but nicky and shay have all the time in the world for the disabled fans they'll happily pose for photos,sign autographs,send specil video messages
