It sounds great, because I've been thinking of getting my hands on some Wool Ease so it's not fussy to wash, yet will be plenty warm.

Glad you were able to find it.  Yes, it is a very warm hat because the headband is double worsted weight garter stitch.

Thanks, Melanie ... the name of the pattern is known as the 1898 hat over on knittingparadise forums.  In my blog post about the headband I put links to the pattern, and the organziation which created it.  The construction of the headband part of the hat is quite unique and very easy to do.
