Heh heh heh, you'd need a barrel in my case. Wink

Charlene,
EVERYTHING you make is so spectacular...and it's NOT the yarn...it's YOU!  You have a wonderful eye for patterns and color.  LOL, I'd love to bottle you and bring you here!  ;D

Thank you kindly.  The top of the sweater and sleeves is a self stripping yarn.  I just love those.  They make me look so good! Wink

Charlene,
Love them both!  I love that shade of purple (LOL, in the unlikely event the shrug is rejected, I will volunteer to give it a good home  ;D  ).  And the sweater...I know you didn't take any closeup pics of the mistakes, but honestly, I don't see any.  It's gorgeous!  I love the color combos and how the design is carried through to the top of the sleeves.

Charlene,
I can't remember the name of the color of that brand of yarn has a variegated color that has black, tan, off-white. I'm not sure if that's all, so I can't remember if there was any grey.  That color didn't appeal to me as much so I haven't bought any of it.
I'm sure solid colors are probably easier for you, aren't they(?), so it's nice that your dad wants a solid color.    I like playing with the self patterning yarns, too. You never know what's going to appear 'til you get into it.   Smile

It's a fun yarn to work with.  I used dark green and the variagated green for a sweater for one of my other nephews.  He did like it.  His father (my brother) was pretty impressed.  He's never paid much attention to my little hobby.  Big sister just went up a notch in his estimation. Wink  It was rather cute really.  Now I have one on the needles for my Papa.  Wish they had a stripped yarn that went from black to grey to white.  Ah well, Papa asked for plain black any way.  It seems the manufacturers are coming out with more of these self patterning yarns and I like playing with them.

Charlene,
I've played around with a skein of that very same variegated yarn. I love the way that yarn stripes all on its own. The cables and the colored stripes in your sweater are beautiful. I hope your nephew likes it, too.
I had a skein of the green camouflage, too. I made a hat for my step-nephew. His mother couldn't figure out how I knew when to change colors to get those neat stripes!
