I can't imagine knitting anything like this...with size 0 and size 1 needles...and sock yarn!

I can't imagine having the "stick-to-it"-ness to actually finish something like that, but doing it yourself is one way to get a great fit.

It would take me years, and by that time, I'd be another different shape.

I can't imagine having the "stick-to-it"-ness to actually finish something like that, but doing it yourself is one way to get a great fit.

My weight hasn't changed very much over the last several years. But it's definitely not where it used to be. Cheesy

Now, that's the spirit! (It would have to be seamed, because she used circulars instead of regular straight needles, but which is worse...seaming? Or knitting the whole thing by hand? I hate seaming but would much prefer that to knitting an entire piece with stitches that tiny.)

Fortunately, seaming isn't one of my bugaboos. I don't mind that part of the process. Thanks to my friend Judi, I can do an almost invisible seam.

Honestly, I don't know what you'd call it. I put right sides together and snake the yarn up every other stitch, NEVER in the "bumps", then I turn it over and snake the yarn back up, every stitch (or down as the case may be), gently pulling the two pieces together but not pulling them.

Most of the time the seam is invisible. I don't know that the technique might be called, but it works.

Hmm...I'm trying to understand, because I'd like to try this...

Is it sort of like doing a running stitch, first in one direction than another? I've tried mattress stitch, and it can look very nice, but (IMO) it is a BEAR!

I don't dislike mattress stitch, but the problem comes when I really can't tell which stitch is which, and where I've already stitched. The only way I can think to correct this would be to stitch first with a contrasting color, then restitch with a matching color and pull out the contrasting after. Sad

LOL, if this sounds complex, it's even more complex trying to look at it, IMO.

I'd really like to try your method, as it sounds so much easier. And if it's invisible, that's what counts!

well, I tried but deleted the explanation. I'll take pictures, much easier. I'll try to have pictures put up as quickly as possible. I really like the way it turns out, since you have to look hard to see the seam on the public side.

WOW! Amazing. Thanks to whoever found this and posted it. I love little stitches out of fine yarn which is why I love to knit socks even if I don't wear them. But no way would I attempt a dress and no way I would attempt a dress without a pattern that I'm just figuring out as I go along.
