WIP-one for every day of the month

I like to keep alot of things going. Last night I worked on socks for my grown daughter. She'll be home tonight and I have 1 sock ready to kitchner but I want her to try it on first. The sock is a basic 2x2 rib down to the toe in shades of black, dark blue and grey. It's from yarn that has some aloa in it and has been fun to work with.

Pepper,

Question: how do you keep socks even? I'd have to knit both socks at the same time, LOL, or they'd be hopelessly mismatched, from changes in tension due to different moods!

I use those little safety pins that don't have the bottom loop. I put one in every 10 rows and then when I start the second sock I take the safety pin out of the first sock after 10 rows and put it in the second sock. When I've transferred all the safety pins, the sock is the right length.
I tried 2 legwarmers at once on 2 circular needles. I really wanted to get them done in a timely manner because my daughter was working in Alaska and I wanted to get them to her ASAP! It was a spiral rib pattern and my problem was if I made a mistake on one and wanted to rip back I had problems ripping back the same amount on the other. It was great to get them done at the same time, but usually I'm not on a time line so doing one at a time is a little more relaxing for me.

Neat idea Pepper, but where do you get non bottom looping safety pins?

It sounds terribly pressured to have to make two legwarmers at once, and ripping back is difficult enough! No wonder it wasn't relaxing.

Hmmm, don't believe I've ever seen those. I'll have to investigate.

My LYS sells these little gold safety pins. I don't know if they have a special name. They don't have the loop at the bottom that regular safety pins have. They are very cheap.

Thank you Pepper, it sounds like a good idea. Next time I go to town, I'll look at the yarn shop. They would be very useful.
