Artwork option
May 17, 2017 at 6:40:30 AM
Good morning,
I recentetly charted a pattern for an owl and the pic came back amazingly clear. I'm pretty sure I used the artwork option, or so I thought. I went back in to the wizard to do a butterfly and I can't get a decent image at all. I also can't get the artwork option. Has that been removed or am I losing it? lol. Please help. Thanks.

Pearllex,
The artwork option actually hasn't been active for a very long time, so you probably didn't use it to create your owl pattern.
Is it possible your butterfly image is less clear than the owl? Also, if you're using the freePatternWizard to resize your image, that could be the problem. The freePatternWizard doesn't work like a graphics program, so if you use it to resize your pattern it won't get it right. In that case, I'd suggest using a graphics program to resize your image, and if you're on a PC I can suggest two very powerful (and free!) programs you can use for the purpose.
There are other possibilities, but these are the first ideas that come to mind.

Pearllex,
You're so welcome!
Here are the links to the graphics programs:
* First, there's GIMP, available here:
https://www.gimp.org/
* And then there's paint.net, available here:
https://www.getpaint.net/
I don't know how to use them, unfortunately...I'm still using a version of Paint Shop Pro from...gulp...1998!

Hi, Pearllex.
One other thing regarding the artwork option. It's actually never been turned on because it had a bug and I never took the time to work on it because I wanted to make it better.
I've recently revisited the function for a company that uses the program and have improved it a bit. It's still not done but close.
There are new features coming soon and this will hopefully be one of them.
What this function does is try to combine colors that are close to one another, thus reducing the overall number of colors and smoothing out transitions where it's currently inserting several similar colors. I'll describe the function in detail when I do turn it on.
