cross stitch Hoosier cabinet to be revised

Another project started forever ago.  My grandmother had a Hoosier cabinet in her old Victorian house.  My mom had fond memories of it.

So when I saw this chart I had to make it.  Of course fast forward 30 years, and when I pulled it out to frame, decided it needed wallpaper.

So, am going to use the cross stitch pattern of my curtains in the family room as the wallpaper behind this cabinet (the background will be more light sand than white).  I know, it might be busy (but wallpaper had a large pattern back in Victorian houses), and I love the pattern at the top, but may decide to only come down to a point and then have beadboard down to a baseboard.  Plan to have a half round rug (I may even crochet a tiny edging and tack it to the edge of the rug, since crocheted rugs have been on my mind of late).  And then add hardwood floor to finish the picture.  Can't decide whether to have the wallpaper/beadboard be the background behind the 2 open doors or fill it in to be "wood".  I'll send a wip pic at some time.

I'm excited about working on that one now.  Thanks.  See, there are advantages to having an unfinished project on hold for a long time.

A practical note about your new home.  Don't know if you have heard of "bottom up, top down" (BUTD) window shades.  I bought some a couple years ago at Bed, Bath ... they no longer carry them.  Anyway I love them, because you can pull the top down and get light into the room, and choose to leave the bottom down for privacy.  Doing the same can help filter the sun.    

I live in a neo-traditional planned community in Florida.  Most of the garages are behind the houses, that you access via alleys, so no garage doors in the front along the street, also no driveways that prohibit parking.  My house is on the corner of the street and an alley, so some neighbors on my block drive past the side of my house, where I have a large triple window.  The houses are built up from the street, so it is not that easy to see inside, but I bought those BUTD shades, and in the morning I have the top down to the sash, and perhaps have the bottom up just a little, so I can breakfast at the table in my
nook and not feel on display.  During the day I usually have all the shade in about a 4" band sitting at the sash, so have almost total opening.  

They are more expensive that regular honeycomb shades, but you can get them online. When I snipped this ad I noticed that one size was $32 from Overstock.com.  Since I have found these shades to be wonderful, thought I'd share.  One caveat:  when you measure your windows, be sure to measure at several points, since some windows (a few of mine included) are not necessarily plumb along the whole length.
