convert picture to written pattern?

I am new to this site and I was wondering is it possible to take a picture of a crochet chart and convert it to a written pattern?  Thanks

Dina,

Hi!  Smile

While we do have future plans for such a feature, we don't have it available at this time.

Hi, Dina.

We seem to be getting more and more crocheters and I'm starting to have more requests for this feature so it'll probably be moved up higher in priority.

I'll probably get to adding this feature in the next few weeks.  I THINK it will be pretty straightforward to add.

Thanks for the input!  With a list of almost 100 new updates and features coming, questions and requests here help me set priorities in what I work on next.

I am totally new to this site and have been trying to convert some ideas into crochet patterns. why does a picture i try to convert into a crochet patter show as 1-22 pages? is there a way to make it 1 page or even 1-2 pages?

Hi, thanks for asking!  Smile

While I'm no technical expert, it sounds to me like your pattern is quite large.  The larger a pattern is, the more pages you'll have.  Also, the problem with downsizing something way down onto one or two pages is when you go to print it, it will be too small and difficult (and perhaps impossible) to read.  That's why, as you've noticed, PDFs are split into many pages, rather than placed on only 1 or 1-2 pages.

Offhand, I would say that if you want to generate a smaller pattern, perhaps try reducing the number of stitches.  The tradeoff there, however, is you may end up losing too much detail.  This is entirely dependent on the photo or artwork you're using.

Hope that helps!  Smile

Hi,
Will there be a word chart soon, (in addition to the symbols & colors) with written instructions? Counting the stitches and rows can be very tiring and time consuming. I've written on one of your other community home pages also, under 'free pattern wizard'. It was in March,2014. Thanks for any info you can share at this time. Keep up the good work that you're doing!! Love your site.
