Welcome to the Stitchboard "Free Pattern Wizard" discussion board!

Hi...we hope you'll enjoy the new pattern creator, created just for you!

Thanks to those who were so kind to test it for us.  Smiley

If you have any questions, encounter an error, want to request a feature or just have general feedback, we've created this topic here in the community for this purpose.

If you're a Stitchboard member and are wondering where the Pattern Creator is, use your "Where To?" bar at the top to navigate to "Pattern Creator" (located directly below "Member Photo Albums").

Non members (and members, too!) can access this feature by direct URL at:
/pages/pattern/freePatternWizardMenu.php

Members may now set the Pattern Creator as their home page, either by choosing this new option when logging in, or by setting it in the "My Tools" option on the "Where To?" bar.

Enjoy!  Smiley

Charlene,

Thanks.  And there are lots more features coming.  We're also looking forward to suggestions from users and will hopefully get ideas of new features to add.

Our software "road map" currently has 34 more items to do.  Some are completed, and others are added every day.

I'm also sure that in these early days, there are some bugs that we'll hear about, and we'll solve them as we know about them.

Have fun!

Terry

Hi!  Ok, let's look into it a bit.  Could you please give me some more information?  I'm first assuming you can get at our general web site under IE.

Second, can you see the Pattern Wizard main page where it gives all the options?  If so, are you having a problem when you submit an image from which to create a pattern?

Let me know how far you get and I'll see what i can do to get you going.

Also, for my info, what version of IE are you using?

Thanks.

Terry

I am using IE9.  I get the message after I hit Let me see my pattern.  I also tried again and got this error.
"When magnifying your image so it meets your desired number of stitches across, to keep the final piece proportional would cause the height to be beyond our limits.  You need to reduce the number of stitches across.
Re-enter new information below."
So I did reduce the stitch across but got IE cannot display this website.  I also tried reducing the size of the picture as it a little over 1MB.

ETA: I was finally able to get my pattern.  Smiley

Glad.  I use this version when testing IE.  (Although it should work on anything >IE6)

Hmmm. Only thing that comes to mind on this is that maybe it periodically generates an internal error of some kind and does not return to the browser with an error message.  This would probably cause the browser to time out.  I'll look at the logs and see if I can see any errors that happened.  As I keep saying, I DO want to hear about errors so I can fix them.  The program is only a bit over half done, with lots more features coming so it helps to clean up as many problems now, before I make it more advanced (which will begin in a few months).  Yes, programmers have WIPs too  Wink.

I'll be addressing this.  Currently, the maximum number of vertical stitches is set at 250 for members.  I put this in since the number of stitches down is calculated by the computer to keep the final output proportional to your original.  I was trying to prevent generating patterns with hundreds of thousands of stitches.  There's an interrelation between the internal magnification and the vertical size produced, and I can probably allow larger vertical patterns when the stitch count across is smaller.  Again, I'll have to think this through.

Great.  I'm curious as to what you did to get it working.  This would also help me make any necessary changes. If I can reproduce a problem, I can fix it.

Thanks again for your feedback.  And let us know if you have suggestions to add.

Terry

I really do not know how I was able to get it to work.  I just kept trying till it produced a pattern.  When I did get the error IE could not display, I was thinking maybe browser timed out also, but I am not really sure.

And for the other error I dropped my stitches across to 90, which I think will be suffient, will not know till I do test swatch.

Does this only work with IE?  I'm using Firefox and I get an error (can't find the page) when trying to access it.  I have a lot of problems with IE, so either I'm stuck or you've removed it?

Hi, CRK831.

Whoops!

I think I see why you could not get to the freePatternWizard! Message #1 above had an old link!  I've updated the link so it works now.  Sorry!

By the way, the freePatternWizard works on IE, Firefox, Chrome, Safari, iPhone IOS, Android, and a bunch more.

Thanks for saying something.  It was our problem, not yours!

Terry
