Not many yet. But I'm working on some tropical themed throw pillows for my aunt's new beach house. And I have to be surrounded by pillows when I sleep.

Anywho, are you working on anything interesting Shiva541? Or Melanie?

mdory,

Ooooh, you've got to post pics!  Kiss  I'm sure your aunt will be utterly delighted, and now I want to sleep surrounded by pillows.  LOL, that's going to have to be a way back burner plan.

Hee hee, have several crochet, knitting and beadweaving projects going at once...at least it never gets boring!  Wink  Working on a crocheted market bag pattern that I'll eventually be selling.  Kind of hit a snag, sigh.  Undecided

How large are your pillows, and about how long does it take you to make one?  Smile

I've been making different sizes of pillows. Some are mainly just covers to pretty up my horrendous old throw pillows so I try to make each square about half an inch larger than the existing pillows on all sides. Others I plan to make range from 30x40 stitches (small, like my hibiscus square in the WIP thread) to larger like 60x60 stitches. I'm still figuring out the best way to stuff them but I'm thinking I can just sew a custom pillow form out of cheap cotton material. Depending on the complexity of the design, it doesn't take long to make them at all. I can complete each square in a few days if I work on it for a few hours per night.

I love the idea of covering up old pillows with nice covers!  Here and there I'll find a pillow at a garage sale or something that really is pretty hideous or just worn out.  It's a great idea to cover them with crochet!

A few hours per night isn't long at all to get such great results!  Kiss  And I think the custom pillow form from cheap cotton is an ingenious idea.  IMO, using stuffing would be prohibitively expensive, and I'm not sure why pillow forms are likewise expensive!  Frown  Another thing...could you use things like old blankets and clothing for pillow forms?

The hibiscus square is a great one for a tropical feel in particular, as well as a pleasing look overall!  Kiss
