New and have a question!!!!
May 22, 2014 at 4:46:58 PM

Hi all...my name is Judy and I just started crocheting about 4 months ago. I taught myself with YouTube. I have a pet business and would like to make pet blankets with peoples pets photos on them. I printed out one but am totally confused as to how to start. Do you tape the pages together and start at the bottom right? This is probably a dumb question but...what the heck!
Thanks so muchEmbarassed

Welcome, Judy!  Smile

First of all, what a lovely idea to make those blankets...I'm sure they'll be greatly appreciated!  Kiss  Who doesn't love their pets?!  Kiss

Your question isn't dumb at all!  Smile

I personally am most comfortable starting a crochet graph from the bottom right, though the main thing to remember is that on your return, you'll be following the graph in the opposite direction.  That can get confusing!

I imagine there are some people who are more comfortable working top down, and there's nothing wrong with that...just a particular preference.  Smile

As far as a several-page graph goes, you'll probably find it helpful to tape the pages together, at least horizontally, to follow it that way.  Overlapping in the pattern is an up-and-coming feature, though I'm sorry to say there's no slated date for that at the moment.

Perhaps what you may also want to do is start a bit smaller...such as a very simple design on a pillow.  Once you figure out your preferences and get used to the back-and-forth of working from a graph, not only will you have a nice pillow to show for it, you'll also know what you're comfortable with doing!  Smile

Hope that helps!  Smile

Judy,

You're very welcome!  Kiss

That's why I suggested a simple pillow.  Even something with, say, a plain initial on it, using only two colors.  That way, you can see how it goes for you and what you're comfortable with doing.  Kiss

Can't wait to see a picture!  Kiss

Hi Judy,

Welcome,
That truly is a wonderful idea!

I would start from the bottom right until I was comfortable with it, as well.

I'd love to see a picture of your finished piece. Kiss
