Cindy,
Hi and welcome! Love your work...it's amazing!
How long have you been crocheting? You must be a pretty fast crocheter to make so many afghans!
I look forward to hearing more about your work and seeing more of your pics!
(Oh, and I have some lovely friends from Michigan...but wow, your weather is sooooo cold!)

I know I hate all this cold.
I taught myself to crochet years ago I think when I was in my 20s.I learned to knit too by my 5th grade teacher. she taught some of us girls on pencils. Some of those afghans I made years ago. but the last year and a half I kind of went into a side business making them for family and friends. I love doing it I helps on these cold days when you cant go anywhere. I also belong to a group of ladies that knit, crochete, and we make things and donate them to different places. hats and mittens for a couple of local schools, a few things for a womans shelter, some lapgans and slippers for the VA hospital and we make baby blankets for a group called Tiny Pourpose.

Cindy,
Ugh, this is the never ending winter, isn't it?!
How neat...I also taught myself to crochet years ago.
No YouTube videos (LOL, because there was no YouTube!), just books and magazines. Things have sure changed, huh?!
What a cool idea that your 5th grade teacher had, to teach you to knit with pencils! It would definitely work, without an added expense of buying needles.
Wow, so are you getting paid to make the afghans for your family and friends, or do you make them for enjoyment?
Making afghans is a great way to pass the time productively, and especially on cold days.
And then you have an afghan in your lap to keep you warm as you work!
At least one advantage of the cold, cold winter is being able to work with warm yarns...
I'm sure the beneficiaries of your group's wonderful work are soooo thankful!
What a lovely thing to do!

Some of my afghans I give as presents and some are by order. The State Helmet one was for my nephew because he quit drinking. things like that. I am in the process of doing one for my granddaughter by request by her. and then I have 3 others I have to do tow of them for Christmas. Our group loves making the items for different places. And it gets me out of the house once a week. lol am looking forward to seeing other members craetions and learning new things.

Cindy,
How neat to give your nephew an afghan for giving up drinking!
I'm sure it was much appreciated!
You must crochet pretty fast if you can have not one, but
two
ready by Christmas! Jealous here!
It's always so nice to give people handmade things, and if I had the time and there were a group like that near me, I would probably join.
We have
very
talented members here!
Isn't it wonderful that no matter how much we know about crochet or whatever, there is always more to learn? Just when I'm worrying there's no more to discover, I find something new! (I have to admit to being a terrible technique junkie. Even if I never will use a technique again, I want to learn it!
) It's one of the joys of needle arts, IMO, that it can never get boring, because there are so many options.
Looking forward to seeing more of your work!

Sherry,
Cindy made a showcase (hint, hint, I'd like to see
you
make one, too!), and you can enjoy it here:

Oh my! Those are truly gorgeous.
I can't decide which one I lke best.
I should learn to be more disciplined about taking pictures of things before I give them away.

Sherry,
Right?! Aren't those amazing?!
I can't decide which one I like best, either!
It's really hard to take the time to set up pictures and get really good ones, isn't it? I try to get at least one picture of things, but sometimes I'm in such a rush to get whatever it is out the door, I barely think of doing anything, and when I do remember, the pictures don't generally turn out well.
I wish I had some pictures of some of the things I made in the distant past, especially!

Thanks everyone. I take the pics because I take requests to make them. Right now I have acouple that I havent posted cause for some reason all of a sudden my computer wont accept my camera. and I have one I just have about 8 more rows to do. they are for my twin dranddaughters and my 8 year old granddaughter. the twis are one of Baby Mini Mouse and Daisy Duck and the other is all black background with a pink cat. that one was "custom" by my granddaughter. lol as soon as I can get pics I will post them too.

I'm not amazing just have nothing else to do. I do get a little "hooked" on watching them in progress and seeing the end results. I do love doing them for people though. But thank you
