I'm Sherry

I learned crochet and other crafts from my granny starting some 50 odd years ago, crochet is by far my favorite and I've lost count of the number of people I have taught to crochet. I am still fascinated when I watch my creations "grow" from my hook. Thanks to the internet, I'm still coming across things that are new to me.
Hats, scarves, and gloves are ok however I really enjoy creating stuffed toys for all the little ones in my life. I don't have pictures since the images are trademarked (like Ironman).
I'm a retired respiratory therapist with 5 grown children, 5 grandchildren (and counting), and my first great grandchild on the way.

Hi, Sherry!
Welcome!
How cool that you've taught numerous people to crochet over the years...it's so wonderful to keep crochet and other crafts going through the generations!
I know exactly what you mean about watching creations "grow." Isn't that one of the best parts?
Sometimes with a big project it seems so daunting at the start...and then as it gets larger, there's a feeling of joy to see something come from what was nothing but a skein of yarn!
If you'd like to post pictures of your work, it's okay if they're trademarked or copyrighted items...what you can't do is sell or even give away for free, say, an Ironman pattern. But if you have, for example, a photo of one of your grandchildren holding some Ironman stuffed toy, that's perfectly fine!
Congrats on your first great grandchild!

I know this really isn"t the place to post this, however I've not been able to find an appropriate place.
I've been digging around here and see that most of the crochet posts are pretty old, I'd like to suggest adding new topcs to hopefully build a larger community. One thing that comes to mind is a discussion of yarns (ie; sizes, understanding care instructions, etc,) to provide information for newbies.

Sherry,
Thank you...that's
extremely
helpful! We definitely have other topics in mind, and the idea of discussing yarns goes along well with that!
In the meantime, if you have any helpful information on yarn, how about starting a new topic in the CrochetTech or the Crochet Hints and Tips area? I'm sure if you have information, others would love to see it, including me...I never tire of learning new things, especially about yarns!
Or if you have questions, please feel free to post them. Meanwhile, I'll also look into adding an area for discussing yarns...thank you so much!

I wonder if it would be possible to change my username? I've managed to inadvertantly grab one that is in commercial use elsewhere

I've turned this over to Support (Terry) to see if it can be easily done.
