I do Bead work, Wire work and Chain Maille, I Cross Stitch, Sew, Knit and Crochet.  So I am sure I will find a lot of inspiration in this group.

Don't be too envious of my sewing.  I used to sew a lot when the boys were young, now all they want me to make is boxers, the more wild the pattern on the fabric, the better they like them.  I am starting to sew for myself again, but my shape has changed so a lot of adjustments to get a nice fitting top.  I also have a quilt put together that is ready to be quilted, I have to get around to that also.
My favorite thing to do has to be Chain Maille hands down.  I have been published 4 times now. I just like to try and create pieces that incorporate beads and chain maille in new ways.  Anyway thanks for the welcome, I have to take a look around and check out all the different groups in the community.

I machine quilt.  I have finished one queen size quilt, Double Irish Chain combined machine and hand quilting. I have another ready to quilt, it is a pattern called Double Monkey Wrench, it is also a queen size quilt.  I working up my nerve to start quilting it.
I have been published in Step by Step Wire, Bead and Button, Canadian Beaders, and in an online E-zine, that is no longer published.

Wire to co-operate?...... there is only one answer for that practice, practice, practice and more practice...and then lots of pieces in the scrap pile.

hey there Melanie,
Link it Up uses disc (coin) shaped beads.  There is also a correction on the sizes of the rings, if you go to the Bead and Button community web page it has the corrections there.
They are:
Please note this revision to the jump ring sizes.

19g rings are 5.2mm for the larger rings
and the smaller rings 20ga 2.4mm

Rebeca also carries the correct jump ring sizes if you don't make your own.

Once again Chain Maille is the same as wire work, it takes practice, practice.  Once you master the basics of properly opening and closing the jump rings, and you have good weave instructions you can do anything.  I am self taught, I used electrical wire that I got when my neighbour renovated her house.  I stripped off the plastic coating wound the wire by hand around a knitting needle, cut the coil by hand with wire cutters, and then did
simple patterns. Gradually I did a lot of reading on line and from the library here.  There is a lot more to chain maille then just connecting rings.
The pattern in Link it up is a Japanese weave, it is not hard to do, it just takes more jump rings than a simple 2 in 2 (2 rings connecting to 2 rings).  http:mailleartisans.org has a ton of information.
