Introducing Myself
April 3, 2010 at 3:05:12 AM
Hi I'm Barb and I've been beadweaving for over 43 years now. It's my 'first love' as far as art goes.
I've been married for 43 years , have 3 grown kids, 7 grandkids and one great-grandkid.
I live in Oregon where we think the sun's color is gray.
(Thank God for my Ott-lite) LOL Actually, it's been pretty sunny this winter as far as Oregon winters go.
I don't really have a favorite beading technique, but my top three favs are: peyote, netting and herringbone. I especially love dimensional work. My main interest is technique. I love talking about it, studying it and experimenting with it.
Barb
Have a great day!

Barb,
Welcome!
Over 43 years of beadweaving...how amazing! You must have seen
many
changes in the field!
What first got you started? Did you learn from a book, or did someone teach you?
I'd love to hear more (and suspect others would, too) about the "old days" of beadweaving. It must have been very hard to find decent supplies...no Delicas, ouch! What did you do when you needed beads, and what kind of thread did you use?

Hi Barb!
Nice to see you over here too. It looks like a pretty good place to hang out.

Hi Melanie,
Our cats should get together! Mine is a boy; isn't yours a girl? Hmmmmm... LOL
Thanks for the welcome. I'm glad to be here!

Penny,
ROFL! I'd love to play matchmaker for my cat...yes, she's a girl. But, um...she's been fixed. And she doesn't "play well with others." Too bad, because I'd like to think she could be with "that special someone" who would hold open kitty doors for her, give her flowers (filled with catnip) and lots of cat treats...hee hee!
(We won't get into the more "gourmet" items like those yummy mice and birds, sigh.)

Well, my Shadow is fixed too.. but he still knows he's a boy! He doesn't play well with others either. The other day he ran head first into the glass storm door because another cat was outside. LOL

Penny,
LOL...ouch! Poor guy!
I guess (?) ours still knows she's a girl, but she'd sooner attack any cat that got into her "territory," sigh. Sometimes it would be nice if they just got along, huh?! I don't mind her being an "only cat," but once in a while I wouldn't mind it if I could take in another needy critter without a resulting bloodbath...
Still gotta love 'em, though! LOL, not that it's hard to love them at all...
