Making Earrings
April 4, 2015 at 12:16:53 PM
Hello, I am trying to make earring for the first time. I have a photo of what I want to convert to peyote or square stitch. My problem is I don't know what size/pixel size I should make the photo so that my earrings are a appropriate size. Below is what photo of what I want the earrings to look like.
Look at that smile! (Photo guaranteed unretouched)

Welcome!
If you're asking about making a pattern using the freePatternWizard and the above image, to be honest, I think the freePatternWizard would be way overkill. You have a very simple, lovely image, which could be hand converted without much effort using a simple graphics program. If you're going to use the freePatternWizard, the problem is that it will make the image larger and a lot more complex than is really necessary or optimal for earrings. The program will also attempt to convert the gray parts of the background into colors or may make it part of the image.
If you make a simple outline with the help of a graphics program, you can roughly plot the image onto a grid as beads in square or peyote stitch. That will give you the best results. The freePatternWizard isn't meant to handle photos to produce them to such a tiny scale; its strength is in turning larger images into patterns, such as turning one's wedding photo into a beaded portrait.

I'm a beading, knitting and crochet addict. If that means I'm admitting I have a problem, then I admit to nothing. Please refrain from helping me.
