New! Caron One Pound, Caron Simply Soft and Herrschners 2-Ply Afghan palettes - thank you to BetwixtTheStitch!
New! The Herrschner's Worsted Palette - thank you to BetwixtTheStitch!
New! We've just added the palette for Deborah Norville Everyday Yarn! If you knit and/or crochet, this is for you. This is a beautiful yarn with a nice feel to it, a good alternative in worsted weight acrylic! (Thank you again to BetwixtTheStitch!)
New! The Red Heart Super Saver Palette - thank you to BetwixtTheStitch!
Welcome to Stitchboard! Feel free to sit and stay awhile. Check out our new Premier features. In addition to the ability to create larger patterns (up to 500 stitches wide), illusion knitting and private labeling (no more worries about editing those pesky and messy PDFs), we've just introduced Filet Crochet, our most popular request! We have many more features planned, too!

Hi,
I'm not exactly sure what you mean when you say your image is "upside right".
Please let me know a bit more. Without making any changes in section 8 of the program, the pattern should be the same orientation as the original image. For example, if you use an image of an upright bunny facing right, the pattern should also show the upright bunny facing right.
The freePatternWizard program does not rotate an image unless you check a rotation box in section 8.
Please let me know a bit more about your image and what it is showing in the pattern.
Thanks.
Terry
Amandy,
Welcome!
We don't recommend using the "colors only" option when creating your pattern. We instead recommend using either "symbols only" or "both colors and symbols," which will help clarify which color is which. To do this, in option #7 you should choose "pattern in PDF format" and then under the "Pdf:" area, you can choose "symbols only" or "both colors and symbols." "Colors only" should only be used for the most basic of patterns with only a handful of colors. Of course you're right that the human eye can't tell which colors are which when you have a lot of different shades of, say, blue!
We do have beading word charts in our plans but at the moment this feature isn't available.
Hi,
Here's another quick update. I just added stitch counts to word charts. Several people have requested this so I thought I'd add it sooner than later.
Hopefully in the next couple days I'll wind up the debugging and will then turn on about 25 fixes and improvements.

before i joined as a member, i would choose a picture then print off the gridlined picture it produced. now that i am a member i would like to still do that but cannot find where that option is. i have the word pattern that i want but using the picture helps me to keep track of colors and changes are coming up. thanks for any thoughts

Wnewtn,
Welcome!
Thank you so
much for the great info - it's extremely helpful!
I'm familiar with Ann Benson books (they're wonderful!)
and that's a brilliant point about the Czech beads. Normally, Czech beads are more
irregular and don't work quite as well as a Japanese/Miyuki seed
bead for weaving that needs to be very even. Though they can work
the other way and give a charming, homey look to weaving, where
Miyuki might end up looking almost mass produced. And for bead
crochet, the Czech would certainly elevate any crochet project
because of their irregularity.
And you're
spot on about the durability. I love to knit, but it doesn't have
the sturdiness of crochet.
Feel free to post
pictures of your bead crochet (or any other beading) here!
