site news and information

Hi, All

First, for anyone having any problems bringing up the freePatternWizard pattern creation software by using the top drop-down menu, feel free to Take This Link

Our showcase has been updated. If you've previously uploaded a showcase in the past, please check to see if it's been posted; meanwhile, if you want to submit one (or another one, if you've already posted before), feel free to do so!

Also note we now have an additional (optional) assembly page for the freePatternWizard. This is for larger pieces that have multiple pages. Much smaller patterns won't need this.

To freePatternWizard paid Premium subscribers having problems logging in:

If you're logged into your Stitchboard account (shows "Hi, name" in the upper right corner of each page), you can ignore the rest of this message.

If you're not logged into your Stitchboard account and you are a freePatternWizard paid Premium subscriber, please take this link one time to verify your subscription(s). It will also ask you to change your password. Again, you only need to do this once.

If you are not a paid Premium subscriber and are having problems logging in, try logging into the Stitchboard website. If you see an "Invalid login username or password" message, you may need to re-register at this link or by clicking the "Register" link at the top of the page. If you try re-registering and get a "duplicate email address" message, you'll need to go through the "password change" function by using this link.

Midnightbleu,
Welcome! Smile
Glad to hear you like the detail the freePatternWizard produces!
Outlining is a feature that will be added in the future. As of now, if you're just creating your own patterns for your own use, perhaps it would be best to look at the work and figure out where to add some outlines. I know it's an inexact science, but it's the best way I can think of, until we have an outline function available. Smile
If you're talking about downloading your finished patterns, at this time there's no storage of patterns on your account...that's also a feature that will be offered at a later date. For now, the only thing to do is download it to your computer. You can also choose the email option, where you can store patterns in your email. Most providers allow you to keep emails indefinitely and many also allow up to X amount of megs or gigs of storage. For example, I believe Google currently offers 15G for a user account.
Oh, discontinued patterns...my nemesis! Cry I hear you about those. I used to have the most beautiful dragon booklet, but lost it to flood waters and have been unable to find anything close. Cry
What I would say is if you think you know the manufacturer, perhaps call them and see if they can find the right pattern book...they may be able to sell it to you directly, or at least let you know more info about it, should it be out of print. (I'd do the same, but have no memory of who published my dragon booklet, only that it was from at least 20 years ago...needle in a haystack. Cry)
I would guess manufacturers would like to at least help you to get info so you can look on Amazon or eBay for discontinued patterns.
I don't know of anyone who actively sells a lot of old patterns, but wouldn't be surprised to find there is someone like that!

Oh man! Okay, well I'll just have to figure something out on my own with it. Thank you so much for the reply Melanie!

I assumed I would be able to get written step by step instruction as with any other crochet pattern.

Forgot to show what I am attempting to create for the background. This was an earlier photo of the background before I finished the vulture. I was dividing my time between working on both. Now I can devote my time when off from work to the background and it si moving faster. Smile  I used colored pencils to draw an old dead tree on the left side and colorful evening sky to give the elusion that the vulture is sitting high upon a limb just out of sight, getting ready to roost for the night. Since I didn't print out a pattern for the background and it is simple, I am picking the colors for it freehanded. I will tell you that does add to the time it takes to bead a line on it. Frown

I have noticed on the pattern maker that many of the colors have different names than the recent Miyuki color list. It is hard to search by number for many of the sellers. So, I've tried searching by color name as well as number.

Many bead sellers don't have a search that will take the numbers either. Usually have to search by color name. Like taupe is no longer a color used by Miyuki bead sellers. It'll come up as khaki, gold, or something else. "DB26 Metallic Steel Iris" comes up as "DB26 opaque metallic luster dark steel" with the sellers. Which took me a while to find in their Delica lists.

I was wondering if there was a way to possibly update the delica lists? I've had to compromize a lot and then find out that the color was there, just didn't have the same name, just the same number (which didn't come up in a number search)

thank you.
