I'm new to the site but not to crochet and just wanted to say hello. I've been crocheting for around 50 years now having been taught by my grandmother. That's not why I joined Stitchboard though. I've joined a challenge on Ravelry to design a knitted afghan square and was Googling for online charting tools, which is how I folnd you. I've been playing with the chart thingy and so far, I lke the results.

Alison,

Welcome!  Smile  So glad you found us.  Feel free to post pics of your finished work anytime - even that not created with the freePatternWizard - as we love to drool!  Laughing

Are you new to knitting, or have you also been doing that for awhile?  Smile

Thank you both for the warm welcome and no, I've been knitting and sewing (gran was a tailoress and kiltmaker) about the same amount of time, but had to stop because of athritis in my hands. I can still crochet thanks to having big handles on my hooks. I have a set of Amour hooks and a couple of sets with bamboo handles that let me continue doing the fine lace work I love.

Alison,

Glad you have those wonderful hook sets!  Kiss  I'm sure fine lace is otherwise very hard to do.  I don't particularly have arthritic hands, but I do tend to get cramped hands when working too small/fine.  I really need to try the handled hooks sometime, rather than the plain old standard fine hooks!  Smile

Gran sounds like she was very talented - and you must have some lovely work of your own to show from over the years, if you've kept pictures of it!  Kiss
