Thank you. dear. <3 <3
I'll test how it does with a painting of mine I had trouble with yesterday & let you know how I do. Everthing I tried, the lines of the dragon's wings came too blocky.
I used Gaussian Blur, Blur, Stray pixels Medium On & Off, Antialias On & Off, several variations on Color Sensitivity ranges, much more. Nothing I tried helped. I think it's because my detailed paintings need a larger format in order to show well. I used Pic 2 Pattern & got excellent results with very little effort in larger sizes. As an example, 24" x 19.2" at 18 st/in. with DMC thread came nice for this painting.
I got pretty good results here for such a small size, 10 3/4" x 14 3/4 -14 Count, etc. with my Hidden Treasure painting which I submitted for sale at the Mall yesterday. (It's not showing up yet.) I got much better results on it, sorry to say, with just a few clicks at Pic 2 Pattern. I hope this site can get the pattern creator up to par with P2P's. I like this site better for all the other features, esp. community & option to sell, but the patternn creator is much harder to use for my needs, sorry to say. Anyway, hope the best for this site. It's very nice!

Follow-up I promised re: use of 300 vs. 100 stitches for cross stitch in create pattern. After much trial and error, I had to quit. I can't use the best one I got. I used a high quality photo that was fixed up in Photoshop. It would be no problem to make a pattern of it in P2P.
These are the settings that worked best for this particular picture, Wonder. Entire palette; use actual; rotate 90 degrees; contrast 30; Sharpen -6; antialias; Gaussian Blur; Sketch; Color Sensitivity15. Results: it uses 213 colors. Too many IMO but if less are used, it doesn't come as nice. Sizes: 21 1/2" x 26 7/8", 14 Ct; 18 7/8" x 23 1/2", 16 Ct; 16 3/4" x 20 7/8", 18 Ct. It has lines that aren't smooth enough, and a lot of the border design is missing. The girl's eyes aren't as detailed as they need to be. The lines are still blocky, meaning uneven and not smooth enough. Also I didn't want to have to rotate 90 degrees to get better results, making it sideways instead of upright. This screenshot looks a little better, but it's still not good enough to use it for a pattern. This image is copyrighted by me, Joyce Jackson, the artist. It's a watercolor painting on Arches wc board. Thanks for any advice you might have. Would it be possible to raise the upper limit of 300 stitches to a little higher? I've done some patterns on P2P where I think I've had widths of 425 or so stitches. Maybe up to 450, 500 would suffice?

Joyce,
First of all, that's a
gorgeous
painting...you're so talented!
Currently our topmost width is 300 stitches. LOL, even we don't have anything wider at the moment! Going wider than 300 stitches may have to be a premium feature, as wider patterns will require heavier server usage.
I can completely understand your frustration with the settings. I'll run this by Terry (Support) to see if he has any other suggestions. It may be something that will be addressed with a future version of the software. We have a
lot
of features planned, so hopefully some of these will ultimately be helpful for you!

Thanks so much for the nice compliment re: my artwork!
Here's my website where you can find out more: http://www.artbyjoycejackson.com/
Facebook:
https://www.facebook.com/ArtbyJoyceJackson
I was unanimously voted into Enchanted Visions fantasy artists group by a board of peers. I'm very honored. It keeps me active at creating new artwork.
I'm thinking over how to approach creating and selling my artwork as cross stitch patterns.
A licensing deal where I license the artwork out to an outside agency, is in the planning stages. Watch for updates at my website and FB page.
Thanks re: server & ideas from Terry. I'd like to go back today & redo the one that I created sell. If so, I'll post results. Its dimensions are more suited to the 300 stitch width. Its longer dimension is the length. It came pretty good but maybe it will come even better now that I can use 300 stitches.

Joyce,
Oooh, squeeeee...love all of it!
Your Tree of Life pendants and earrings are so beautiful.
And then your paintings...gorgeous!
I think that's a lovely idea, to sell patterns based on your artwork. It's the perfect medium.
Please do let me know how the 300 stitch width works for you. If it doesn't work out, Terry can see if he can work with your original and the settings to find something that will be optimal and not have some of those unwanted results. Just using a jpg image, for instance, can cause issues, because they do have a tendency to blur or bleed colors.
Hopefully 300 stitches will work for you and further experimentation will be unnecessary.
Looking forward to seeing more of your work!

Wow, thanks so much for the positive feedback on my art & tree of life pendants! I have so much I want to do, never enough time.
The eyes in the the Wonder image didn't in show up very well when I tried it at 300 stitches. I edited it this evening to get a sharper .jpg; it looks like that might make a difference.
Meanwhile, I'm working on other artwork that has a deadline. I'll try to redo Wonder & the one called Hidden Treasure that I submitted to the Mall asap & let you know how it works out. Thanks, that's very nice if Terry can do something else if it doesn't work out after I retry!

Joyce,
You're ultra talented...some people can only do one or two things well...you can paint, cross stitch, make jewelry...LOL, is there anything you can't do? Doesn't sound like it!
Let me know how the sharper .jpg file works.
Also, try not to use anything with a "blur" to it (such as Gaussian blur), as that will...um...blur the image, and you don't want to blur any of your work!
Anytime...if the new .jpg doesn't work out, Terry can probably give you some ideas of how to get better results.

I had to make several edits. I created a dark green/black border. That was the last fix it needed. Without it, her right eyebrow was wonky. lol
Thanks so much for the nice compliments. I do a lot because I get so interested in everything. Sometimes it nice, other times, it makes me crazy.
I submitted it to the mall here. Hope to see it there soon!

Joyce,
Woo hoo, you did it!
LOL, glad her right eyebrow is now sorted out...wonkiness usually doesn't work well with anything on faces!
It must be
wonderful
to express yourself in paintings. Fantasy paintings are my
favorite
, because they always have so many interesting things going on, as yours do.
It's approved and in the mall!

Thank you!
I did some editing of the listing. I never seem to think of everything the first time. lol
2 more submitted for the mall. More asap. This is Hidden Treasure:
Gift from the Heart. Good for giving as a gift, for obvious reasons.
