We're thinking about lowering the maximum uploaded image size

Hi, everyone.

We're thinking about lowering the allowed upload image size in the freePatternWizard.  As I've stated before, generally, the smaller the image, the better it works with the PatternWizard.  The absolute best uploaded image width is the number of stitches across that you want in a pattern.

So if you want a pattern with 80 stitches across, the best uploaded image would be 80 pixels in width.

As soon as you start uploading smaller or larger images, the system needs to adjust the size, and will introduce some image distortion.

We understand that being able to upload a larger image and having the PatternWizard reduce it is convenient and that's why it's there.  I'm guessing, though, that most uploaded images don't get near the current limit of 5Mb.

So it's just a thought right now.

Please let me know if you think this would be a limiting factor for you.

Thanks.

Terry
