Any Kumihimo Beaders Out There?

I took a class at The Bead and Button Show this year, and I'm expanding my knowledge of kumihimo. The piece that I did in the class is shown below. It's got a beautiful art bead, and several people have thought it was a ying/yang necklace.

I've made one more in the same weave using different colors and an art bead. That one is below:

Tell me, which one do you like better?

Gail,

Did you have to make the choices so difficult?!  Grin  Actually, I'm only half kidding...I like both, because you've matched the colors of the art beads so well, I would swear the art beads and the kumihimo were made by the same person.

If I really had to make a choice, I'd probably choose the second one, but then would probably raid the week's grocery money to buy the first, too!  Grin  (Hey, what's more important...food...or beads?)

I am a newbee to stitchboard.  I think stitchboard is the best thing I have ever had the good fortune to stumble upon.  I love beading and struggle to find (ready) patterns that suit my tastes.  Also, with a very limited budget, it is difficult to find the $$ to buy both beads and patterns (it all adds up fast).  This is why I LOVE you guys soooo much for creating such a wonderful tool.  Gail:  I just took up kumihimo also.  I have yet to try the art with beads (so far just used various cords, etc.)..but I am eager to give it a try.  I am in awe of your work..it is beautiful.  I would vote for the first one (blues are my favorite).  Very soon I will give beaded kumihimo a try.  Do you have any suggestions for beginners?  LOVE your work....and LOVE LOVE LOVE stitchboard!!
Heather

Heather,

Thank you so much for your kind words!  Smiley  I'm glad you're able to create your own patterns.  You're very right about the cost of patterns being prohibitive...and then when you add beads...OUCH!

Please feel free to post any photos of your finished work in the photo albums on our site...we love to look at beautiful eye candy!
