Ready to start crocheting am image for a blanket. How do I do this?

Hi everyone, I am about to start and trying to figure out, once I make a chain of the stiches needed 150 max, then I crouchet one row, that row is not counted as the first or is it?  My pattern has 233 rows and do you work the pattern from right to left.

The pattern is printed out starting with row 233 and the pattern is shown as if you were to crouchet from left to right.  I am right handed, so do I work on the pattern printed starting on the right side of the page.

Also, counting the first row as 233, when I turn the piece around to do the next row, I assume going back over what I just done would be 232.  I also assume you work from the highest numbered row and work down to row 1.  This means I am working the image from the top to the bottom.

Is there any tutorial that shows this.

Thank you for the help.

Janet,
When working from a chart you work bottom to top, right to left, then left to right, in conventional chart format. This is why the numbering starts from the bottom and not the top. You'll also notice the numbers start from the side where you would start; odd rows start from the right, evens start from the left. This represents the way you would crochet. Though you're not literally working from left to right for the even rows, when you flip the work over to work each even or "return" row, you're crocheting the side that goes left to right, though all you see when you're working is right to left, as you would normally see a project that you're working in rows. So when you get to the evens in a chart, you'll reverse your reading of the chart to start at the side where the number is, to keep your pattern from having every other row going the wrong way.
The numbering of your crocheting starts with the first single crochet row. It is not advisable to add an extra row at the beginning or your numbering will be off completely and this will get very, very confusing, potentially messing up your pattern because you'll be constantly trying to figure out which row you're really on and in which direction you should be working. If you absolutely feel a need to add an extra row for some reason, such as a border, I would suggest adding it after you're done with the chart.

Melanie,
Thank you so much.  After sitting at the computer and having it print out the pattern and the words, I understand it and you made it clearer.  Of course, when I first went in to print it out, I forgot to tell it Red Heart, so I ended up printing a standard chart.  I am a Dufas.  I like challenges.  I am going to print out only the 23 rows, first group of 4 pages.  Then I am going to purchase a new ink cartarage so that I am prepared to print out the next 4 pages.  My luck, I will run out of ink during the night time when I crouchet.
You have been a lot of help.
Have a great rest of the weekend.  I am excited to start the 325th project that I have going at the same time as the 324 that I have going.  Kidding, only 10 projects of different kinds.  So, I don't get bored.

Janet,
LOL, what a coincidence, I'm on my 325th project, too! Wink
No, you're not a dufas. If it's your first time seeing a large graph, it would be very, very confusing.
Remember that if you're going from a word chart, the left-right rows are reversed for you; it's only in the graph itself that you have to reverse your reading of it. Also, in a word chart it starts at row 1 instead of the top, since a word chart isn't a visual pattern the way a graph is. Smile
Glad to hear I've been able to help you! Kiss
