cross stitch: How do I make a personalized Pattern
October 30, 2018 at 3:11:04 PM
I would like to make a sampler for my neighbors. I cannot seem to find an alphabet that I can use to create the pattern. It will just be the family name and an established date under that. Can anyone point me in the right direction?

arekaybee,
Welcome!
Lettering is difficult because the letters will have to be large enough (e.g., no tiny lines, not large as in size) to be visible as lettering when they're sent through the freePatternWizard. My best suggestion is to experiment using a graphics program, reducing the image so that 1 pixel = 1 stitch. In a later version of the software you'll have a bit more control over something like working with an alphabet, but as of now that's not available.
In particular, I'd look for a font that's not too fancy, that doesn't have whispy lines or curly embellishments, as those would tend to get lost unless your lettering was super thick. It should be fairly basic and solid. You may also want to stay away from serifs, as that would add thinner lines that would make it difficult to to turn into a 1 pixel = 1 stitch ratio.
Hope that helps!

I'm a beading, knitting and crochet addict. If that means I'm admitting I have a problem, then I admit to nothing. Please refrain from helping me.
