Not in progress - but finished
June 22, 2016 at 4:21:59 PM

Made some of my teachers a gift.

Left: A bird for my math teacher.. It's a 'Kay Bojsen' look alike (try googleing him, he's a danish artist making some wonderfull figures in wood).

Right: a chemistry flask, for my chemistry teacher..

The flask was acutually fun to make.. I love small projects... And now - back to the cardigan.. *sigh* it takes freakishly long time to finish...

Line,

What lucky teachers!  Kiss

I say you've really captured the look of the Kay Bojsen wood figures with your bird!  (Yes, I did look him up online, and you've done a spectacular job! Kiss)

The flask is cute and does look like fun!  Love the cotton "smoke" on the top, too...what a perfect touch.  Kiss

You're not kidding...cardigans really do take time, sigh.  Worth it in the end, but they can be very frustrating because they do tie up so much time.  LOL, that's what TV is for, though, isn't it?  Wink

Thanks for posting!  Kiss  Your work is always such a joy to see.  Kiss

Hugs,
Melanie

I almost hate the cardigan for not beeing finished.. :p lol

When i'm done with it, I need to wash the oil out of it.. The yarn still have some of the oil from the factory in it... Sigh... But I love the yarn.. it's wonderfull when washed.. Soft and cosy Cheesy

Line,

LOL, I can so relate to you almost hating your cardigan!  Every time I make something large, I get very frustrated that it takes so long.

Oh, yum, the yarn sounds wonderful!  Kiss

I'll just keep posting my projects in this topic..

So I got tiret of using money on cotton thingies for make up removal, so I though, why nok make some make-up removal pads?

I have a lot of cotton yarn, so why not use it on something for myself this time:

Line,

What a great idea!  Kiss  They look perfect and they'll last forever!  Kiss  Just pop them in the washer when they get dirty.

I like to use cotton for making dishcloths.  Never realized how much better they are for cleaning until I made some!  I don't use sponges on my dishes anymore.  They fall apart so easily and don't do a very good job.

No doubt your make up removal pads will do a superior job!  Kiss

Hugs,
Melanie

Melanie,

I sure hope so Smiley
I gave 6 to my MIL, so she can try them for me, I don't wear makeup everyday, and I don't wanna put it on, just to take it off right away, so I gave her some, and then she'll hopefully leave me some feedback at some point..

Hugs

Line,

Great idea to give some to your MIL!  Kiss  I wouldn't want to waste the time or money putting on makeup just to take it off, either.  Ingenious idea, to have someone else test them for you!  Kiss

If they go over really well, maybe you'd want to sell some here and there?  Kiss

Hugs,
Melanie

Melanie,

That was actually my though.. Making and selling them for a small profit..
Making them in all kinds of colors.. and maybe even different shapes.. I think that you could do a heart shape as well.. Or something

Line,

Exactly!  Kiss  Love the idea of you making money from selling small items like this, and what a great idea to make them in different colors and shapes!  Kiss  That would be really eye-catching, and who could resist something so visually appealing?  Kiss

Hugs,
Melanie

Melanie,

My thought exactly Smiley
I just got some feedback from my MIL - she loves them.. So I had to try them out for myself..

So I put on my usual makeup, waited a couple of hours, and then took it off.. I only needed ONE pad for my entire eye makeup.. I usually use 4 or 5 of the cottong thingies you buy in supermarkets..

I am very surprised by this.. They are genious..
SO now i'll start making some more.. A lot more.. Cheesy

And I was thinking og making some slightly bigger, for those who uses makeup in their entire face.. Maybe it's easier if they are bigger Smiley

Hugs

Line,

Wow!  KissKissKiss  I love this!  KissKissKiss

You're a genius!  I hope you sell a lot of them.  They sound fantastic to use...they're great to look at...win-win!  Kiss

Wonderful idea to make some larger ones, too!  The smaller ones for eyes, the larger ones for everything else, perhaps?  You could color code them...certain colors for the eye ones, certain colors for the face ones.  Or just make them in random sets of colors!

Hugs,
Melanie

Melanie,

I'll try making some larger ones, it's just puff stitches, so it'll be easy to make the pads larger.. Cheesy

Don't know about colors though.. They be easy to tell apart just by the size.. But it's a good idea anyway Smiley
Thank you.. Cheesy

Hugs

Line,

Glad you can easily make them larger!  Puff stitches give really good coverage and they look soooooo nice, too.  Kiss

I was thinking about colors just to make them (more) eye-catching.  Kiss  When I see handmade products for sale, such as dishcloths and potholders, I've noticed the ones I'm the most drawn to are the ones with a lot of color choices.  Kiss

You're so welcome!  Kiss  Though that's really all you...I'm just here for support.  Kiss

Hugs,
Melanie

Melanie,

And support is 25% of the work IMO.. Smiley

It's nice to have support for the things you make.. It makes the whole process a bit funnier.. Smiley
