Melanie,

Cats are funny that way. They are their own.. We are just their to obey..

I don't know what her deal was.. But at least the dog got used to bigger dogs..
In the ring, when competing for best in show, you go into the ring with alole the other breeds who have won their group competetion.. Så everything from chihuahuas to irish wolfhounds will be in the ring at that point.. So if you dog don't like bigger dogs, it is to put it nicely: fucked..

I don't think beading is for me.. :p But thank you for the offer.. Kiss
And yes, you are the man (woman) in the yellow hat.

Hugs

Line,

Oh, so true.  Dogs have owners.  Cats have staff.  Wink  Or as I like to tell people, "You can't make a cat do anything."  Cats will do what they want to do, no matter what you want.

I'd say getting the dog used to big dogs was the best thing that could have happened.  Kiss  No way would that dog have done well in any competition...I'm not surprised that other dogs will be in the ring when competing.  In a competition, face it, like it or not, there will be dogs around!  LOL, what a shocker, huh?  Wink  So you're absolutely right.  Kiss

No problem, and if you ever change your mind, please let me know.  Kiss

LOL, make that either a black hat or a purple one, and we'll be great.  Not sure a yellow hat would do any justice here.  Wink

Hugs,
Melanie

Melanie,

LOL.. Okay.. Woman in the purple AND black hats.. :p

ANYHOW.. I just finished Noahs new hat.. :p
I love it.. Everybody else seems to dislike it, but who cares.. It is a great hat..
There is only one problem with it though.. It seems like I have made it a bit too small for his big head, so I'll have to put a row or 4 more in it, which should not be a problem since it is made from side to side, and not from the top down or the other way around..
So it is doable.. Can't wait for him to wear it.. I especially love the spirals on top vs a pom pom because it is so different.. Cheesy

Hugs

Line,

LOL!  I actually have a black hat for the winter, though at some point I'm thinking of making a new one (the one I wear is store bought).  And purple is one of my favorite colors.  Smile

Why do people dislike the new hat?  It is a great hat - I love it!  Kiss  It looks like so much fun with the different colors, and the spirals make it even more fun!  Kiss

I'm really glad you won't have to rework it drastically to make it larger...you're so right about top-down and bottom-up...it would be so much more difficult to make it larger using either of those methods!  Let's hear it for side-to-side...woo hoo!  Wink

And I agree...the spirals have much more visual interest.  Pom poms are such a usual thing...I think the spirals are very inspired!  Kiss  LOL, now I want to make a hat with spirals like that!  Kiss

Hugs,
Melanie

Melanie,

I just gave Noah the hat, he loves it soooo much, and won't take it off.. I love when the things I make ate apreciated..
I does fir him, so I won't have to redo it.. 😍
It's a bit tight for him, but the yarn will expand a bit when he has worn it for a while.. At least I hope so.. He won't be able to wear in next winter if it doesn't expand a bit..

I think people dislike it because it is a bor different than the usual hat..

Anyhow, I love it, Noah loves it.. That's all that matters..

Hugs

Line,

Awww, how sweet...he loves the hat so much, he won't take it off...so precious!  Kiss

It really is flattering when something is appreciated, particularly with kids.  Kids can be very honest until they get to the age where they learn self-editing, so to speak, and if they don't like something they'll say it!

So glad you won't have to redo it!  Kiss

I hope the yarn does expand.  If not...can you work into it at a later date?  Or would you just make another?

Well, people are dumb, then, because I think it's lovely!  Kiss  So what if it's unusual...that's what makes it so interesting!  Meh, who wants a "same old, same old" hat...boring.

That's the best part of all, and the main thing that counts, that Noah loves it.  Kiss  LOL, I mean, since it is for him, and all.  Wink

Hugs,
Melanie

Melanie,

It will be no problem working into it later on.. Unless the yarn filters together when washed.. I don't think it will, but you never know . it is 100% highland wool exept for the light blue and the darker green.. Those to colors have silk in them..

Maybe I will just work into it in a couple of days just to be on the safe side.. I have to make it a big longer anyway.. Donøt know how I will do that, but none the less it has to be done.. :p

Aaaaaaah.. Just went on my winter break.. I have been looking forward to that..
I have decided that both of the boys will go to their kindergarden monday and tuesday so that I have some time for my self.. I need a couple of days where I can be all alone.. I also have some school work to catch up on.. Sigh..

Hugs

Line,

I hope the hat fibers won't felt (full) when it's washed!  Surprised

As for making it longer, how about either continuing the rows in a slightly different stitch (perhaps not the back loop or front loop ribbing) or making it as more of a brimmed cap with the addition?

Glad you're on your winter break!  Kiss  I remember how I used to look forward to days off from school...even a few can make it bearable!

Nice, glad you're getting some alone time!  (Sorry you have schoolwork to do, though.)  Kindergarten is only when you choose to send the kids?  Here, kindergarten is where the kids go every day for most of a year until they get into first grade.

Enjoy your winter break!  Kiss

Hugs,
Melanie

Melanie,

Sorry for late reply..  (I'm sooooo tired all the time, don't know what's happening to me right now... zZZzzZZZZ)

I thought about continuing the rows in a different stitch, but I don't know which stitch to use. There are soooo many pretty stitches - it is hard to chose one.. And then it is really hard for me to get a hold of the hat.. Noah won't let me take it :p He's even sleeping with it.. :p Very cute little boy.

Yes, and no.. :p
Kindergarden here is from age 3 to 6.. The kids go every day, but still have holidays. Like spring break, easter break, sommer break bla bla bla..
The kindergarden teachers want the kids to be at home when the parents are home (I get the idea, since a lot of parents send their kids no matter what.. I actually know of a woman who sent her kids in kindergarden even though she was at home for vacation for 4 weeks, the kids did not have any vacation.. :/ )

Anyhow, I have chosen to send the kids to kindergarden for 2 days even though I was just at home.. No problems with the teachers down there - thank god.. They could just try and mention it, I would go... BOOOOOOOM...
If my classes are not being held, then I take a home day with the kids, so they have plenty of days off.. :p

Hugs,

Line,

I'm so sorry and know exactly what you're going through...I'm also tired all the time.  I fall asleep in front of the computer, in the middle of writing notes.  LOL, pasted one particularly nonsensical one into an email, as it was the oddest thing and had nothing coherent at all (ironically, it was found typed in the middle of a response being emailed to a friend!).  I'm sure it also doesn't help you that school has been so stressful...not that it can never be stressful!  Cry

Awww, how sweet that he likes his hat that much!  Kiss  Well, you could make another that is sized better, so this way when the original doesn't fit at all, he just goes on to the new hat.  Maybe at that point you nab the old one and add some rows?

You know, that's also pretty smart for a boy so young, wearing the hat to bed...it will keep him very, very warm!  Kiss  I agree...cute!  Kiss

Wow, 4 weeks without the kids?!  Surprised  She must not like her kids very much!

Two days compared to four weeks is nothing...a couple of days off from being around the kids is probably a great and much-needed break for you!  Kiss  I can completely understand two days.  (Note to self: see if any kindergarten classes will take husband for four weeks, as he's mentally in his terrible twos, anyway.  Wink)

I'm sure you take good care of the kids and give them plenty of time with you.  Kiss  Four weeks is just excessive.  And I'd agree, if the school had complained, that would have been way overboard!

So glad you did get some "me" time.  Kiss

Hugs,
Melanie

Melanie,

I am sure that any kindergarden would take your husband.. :p They would be happy for the help anyway.. More time fro drinking coffee you know :p

I don't know if she likes her kids or not.. My guess it not.. She was really odd.. I have never met anyone like it..

Well, the hat have to fit for a couple of months.. When it gets warmer I will snatch it, and make it bigger.. That is my game plan :p LOL

Still very tired.. zzZZzzZZzZZzZz..
But happy for the me time.. Marcus just got picked up by his grandmother, so I only have the little one at home.. It's great..

Hugs,

Line,

LOL, no, I mean he would be more interested in sitting on the floor with the other kids, playing with the toys!  Laughing  Help them?  Help, shmelp!  Wink  You don't get to play with the toys if you're helping, you know...

Our library recently finished an addition to the original building and there are some new spots for the kids.  We went into the one room and my husband saw where all of the toys were, and he was saying he wanted to sit down on the floor and play with them!  Laughing

She does sound odd.  And you're right...can't imagine she really likes her kids much if she doesn't want to see them for long periods of time!  How sad for them.  Cry

LOL, love your game plan.  At some point when the weather gets warmer, he's going to be too uncomfortably warm to wear it, so I'm sure you'll have an opportunity to work on it.  Kiss

Hee hee, I know what you mean!  If it wasn't for naps, I don't know how I'd make it through the day.

It's funny...I know many adults who really like to take naps.  Even funnier, I had a vacation from a particular job years ago, and when I returned, I was standing there yawning.  "Missing your afternoon nap?" my boss inquired.  LOL, she'd been on sick leave right before my vacation and had discovered the joys of the afternoon nap!  Laughing

Now, that is "me" time!  Kiss  Enjoy...and I hope the little one isn't any trouble at all!  Kiss

Hugs,
Melanie

Melanie,

Well. Isn't kindergarden teachers just sitting and playing with toys with the kids?
Most kindergarden children doesn't need much help.. Today the kids are helping them selves.. I know my boys are.. They are putting on their clothes by them selves, they go to the toilet by them selves.. Well, Noah is still wearing his diaper, but that is pretty much the only thing he needs help with..

The game plan is great Cheesy

Naps are great.. Love naps.. But haven't had time to take one for a couple of months now.. Sad
Maybe that's why I'm so tired..

Hugs

Line,

LOL, you're right, that's exactly what kindergarten teachers are doing.  But my husband is still in his terrible twos, so he can't be considered a kindergarten teacher.  Wink

Wow, I had no idea!  Kids are pretty advanced at early ages these days!  Surprised

I agree...your game plan is nothing short of genius, simply following his inability to wear the hat when the weather gets warmer.  Kiss

Oh, no!  Frown  Hope you get a chance here and there for a nap, so you can feel refreshed!

Hugs,
Melanie
