If you're going to crochet it, and you chose standard, yes it would be single crochet.

Angela,

Sherry is correct, the stitch would be single crochet for standard. The reason we call it standard instead of single crochet is because it's called double crochet in the UK, not single crochet. Calling it standard covers both.
