How to make cross-stitch patterns smaller
March 29, 2026 at 10:37:27 PM
Hi,
no matter how I resize my image, I can't get the pattern to not be gigantic. I want to make a pattern that is 8 x 6 inches, not huge. I try getting rid of pixels but that doesn't help.
please help!

Snodge,
What settings are you choosing for size? The correct way to do it is to multiply the number of stitches per square by your desired number of inches, and then use that number in #6. Also, if you can get your original image to be literally the same size of pixels, because as close as you can get to pixels = stitches is ideal.
This is only for one direction, I'm sorry to say. You won't be able to set the other direction until the next version of the software, which is still in development, with no specific date as of yet. The best way I've found around that is to mess around with adding borders, to make the image wider or longer, so you get the exact result you want.

I'm a beading, knitting and crochet addict. If that means I'm admitting I have a problem, then I admit to nothing. Please refrain from helping me.
