Hello All
March 2, 2016 at 10:39:09 AM

I'm fairly new to this site, even though I've belonged for awhile. I am attempting to figure out how the pattern maker works with my photos. I sometimes get a VERY long and not very wide pattern for a tunisian afghan and am attempting to figure out if it's my picture or I'm inputting something wrong, and am wondering if I need to crop my photos to a certain size before I try to make a pattern of them to get the correct size for an afghan.
I'm very excited to start on a new project, but not before I figure this all out lol.
Tunisian is my stitch of preference and wish that there were more sweater patterns out there to make, but I also do a lot of regular crochet, baby clothes, hats, sweaters, I just finished a 3 strand coat (VERY heavy and warm) and make anything else that strikes my fancy Wink.  Previously, I have been using already made cross stitch patterns to make afghans, which can lead to some very large afghans, and I actually cross stitched on my first one (that I called my never ending afghan, because it took so long to make. It will fit my queen bed!). It was a Mallard duck in flight.
We tunisian lovers need the designers to get to work making some clothing patterns for tunisian crochet that are not scarves, shawls, cowls, etc.! I don't use any of these lol, and more books on diffferent stitch patterns!

Welcome!  Smile

I hear you about those limited stitch patterns...Tunisian is great for so many things, not just scarves, shawls and cowls!

I'm not sure why you're getting a very long and not very wide pattern for your afghan.  What I'll have to do is send you an email and then you can mail me your original image; we can then take a look at it and see if there's a problem.

Wow, that 3 strand coat sounds fantastic!  Do post a picture sometime, if you don't mind...any photos of your work would be welcome!  Smile  We'd love to see it, even if you didn't create it with the freePatternWizard.

That cross stitched afghan sounds like one of my largest cross stitch patterns...6 months was what it took to make it!  And that was only because I worked on it constantly.  I'm guessing it normally would have taken 2 years or more.

Oooh, aren't stitch patterns wonderful?  I love to look at different ones and think of things to make with them.  Smile

Thank you Melanie,
I tried to make a photo album but I think the size of my pictures are too big. I'll try again later. I sent you an email with a photo in it, well, I sent you 2 emails. I remembered to put the photo in the second one lol.

You're correct...the photo albums get confused with larger sized photos, I'm sorry to say.  (I think the limit is .5M.)  So if you can resize them in a graphics program to bring them to under .5M, that will work.  Smile  So glad you'll be posting, thanks!  Smile

I did get the photo and have sent you our findings.  Please let me know if we've misunderstood, and then we'll keep looking at it to see if we can get the same results you're getting.  Smile

BTW, I just deleted the photo album you created the other day...please try to re-upload the photos when you get the chance.  There's still a .5M limit, but there was another issue due to the upgrade that wasn't allowing photos to be posted...my apologies!
