New! Caron One Pound, Caron Simply Soft and Herrschners 2-Ply Afghan palettes - thank you to BetwixtTheStitch!
New! The Herrschner's Worsted Palette - thank you to BetwixtTheStitch!
New! We've just added the palette for Deborah Norville Everyday Yarn! If you knit and/or crochet, this is for you. This is a beautiful yarn with a nice feel to it, a good alternative in worsted weight acrylic! (Thank you again to BetwixtTheStitch!)
New! The Red Heart Super Saver Palette - thank you to BetwixtTheStitch!
Welcome to Stitchboard! Feel free to sit and stay awhile. Check out our new Premier features. In addition to the ability to create larger patterns (up to 500 stitches wide), illusion knitting and private labeling (no more worries about editing those pesky and messy PDFs), we've just introduced Filet Crochet, our most popular request! We have many more features planned, too!

Hi Terry, thank you so much fo your answer. Ok, tried with Loom, Herringbone, Brick and Peyote. Herringbone and Brick had colors, however, Loom and Peyote had just black and white. I look forward to your reply. Thank you again. Cheers!! Lynn
Piddy,
Oh, no, it's gone! Please do post more pics so we can see your progress...yes, even the hook and mass of threads! It's sooooooo amazing...and it really does look like a photograph!
Monica,
You're so welcome...happy this is helpful for you!

Secoya,
You're so right, art is
beautiful and special...and as I always say, who's to say what's
wrong? There are people who have discovered amazing techniques that
never would have been discovered...had they not been completely
wrong! LOL, it's a different way to think outside the box, right?
I'm sorry
your brother doesn't enjoy knitting or crochet. Maybe he needs to
find something else that he really, really likes? I know there are
crafts that completely turn me off...and there's nothing wrong with
them, I am just not talented in those areas and don't enjoy them.
It would be no less than torture to me to go back to them instead
of the things I love.
I would say to
encourage him to try other things. Had I not been, well, sort of
bullied about my cross stitch by that mean woman who turned my work
over, I might not have found beadweaving...ack!
Your brother
might enjoy sewing more...or
lacemaking...beadweaving...spinning...needlepoint...thankfully, the
list is endless!

Tasha,
Welcome!
Are you talking
about for C2C or just a regular afghan?
Regardless of which you're talking about, if you're looking to make it a certain size, you must make a gauge swatch. I know, almost nobody likes making them (yes, me included), but that's the only way to calculate how many stitches you'll need. You must make this swatch using the fiber you plan to use and the hook size.

The reason I can't give you a specific
number is because all of these things are as individual as you are.
Your chosen fiber, hook and tension
will be different from mine. So if you're looking to make a
specific size of anything - even someone's published pattern - you
must swatch.
