New! Caron One Pound, Caron Simply Soft and Herrschners 2-Ply Afghan palettes - thank you to BetwixtTheStitch!
New! The Herrschner's Worsted Palette - thank you to BetwixtTheStitch!
New! We've just added the palette for Deborah Norville Everyday Yarn! If you knit and/or crochet, this is for you. This is a beautiful yarn with a nice feel to it, a good alternative in worsted weight acrylic! (Thank you again to BetwixtTheStitch!)
New! The Red Heart Super Saver Palette - thank you to BetwixtTheStitch!
Welcome to Stitchboard! Feel free to sit and stay awhile. Check out our new Premier features. In addition to the ability to create larger patterns (up to 500 stitches wide), illusion knitting and private labeling (no more worries about editing those pesky and messy PDFs), we've just introduced Filet Crochet, our most popular request! We have many more features planned, too!

Hello, I'm 26 and I have spent the majority of my life in and out of crochet projects. Its one thing that I love that even when I take a 6 month long break from it, I'm still just as excited to start a new project and come back to it. I was wondering if I could get some advice about coloring. My friend has asked me to create a blanket for her daughter's softball team using their logo. I am happy to do that but the pattern is kind of black and white and the letters are surrounded by puffs of smoke. I didn't know if there was a way to get an idea of a color combination or fade to get that type of design to show up in crochet. I've made a few sports blankets but I have never tried to capture a smoke effect. I figured maybe try a gray that fades into a solid white. I also want to try to make this with velvet yarn, which could have a discoloration effect all by itself. Any and all advice is appreciated. Thank you for your time.
You didn't misunderstood. Thanks for your reply!
Nanaz,
I'm so sorry...I was referring to the type of chart, not the subject of your particular chart. Did you have the freePatternWizard create a graph (grid) or a word chart?
Neave,
Thanks for letting me know! I don't want to be confusing, and I know that sometimes we don't share the same phrases.

Conny,
Oooh, will check out your
photos! Thanks for uploading!
We've increased
the sizes of the images a bit that you can upload, so I hope that
helps.
I see what you
mean...glad you figured it out! I like your saying. We have a similar
one, but ours is "Put the cart before the horse," since carts are
traditionally pulled by horses and not placed in front of them.
