New! Caron One Pound, Caron Simply Soft and Herrschners 2-Ply Afghan palettes - thank you to BetwixtTheStitch!
New! The Herrschner's Worsted Palette - thank you to BetwixtTheStitch!
New! We've just added the palette for Deborah Norville Everyday Yarn! If you knit and/or crochet, this is for you. This is a beautiful yarn with a nice feel to it, a good alternative in worsted weight acrylic! (Thank you again to BetwixtTheStitch!)
New! The Red Heart Super Saver Palette - thank you to BetwixtTheStitch!
Welcome to Stitchboard! Feel free to sit and stay awhile. Check out our new Premier features. In addition to the ability to create larger patterns (up to 500 stitches wide), illusion knitting and private labeling (no more worries about editing those pesky and messy PDFs), we've just introduced Filet Crochet, our most popular request! We have many more features planned, too!

Will it still show you the appropriate stitches for cross stitch if I tell it to it in crochet? Do you have any tips? I am relatively new to cross stitch and this is the first thing I've done with crochet.
Joan,
Welcome!
Hopefully this will set your mind at ease. A word chart of a graph is just like any normal crochet pattern. You still need a turning chain and you still need to turn your work as you would with any other pattern. A word chart merely assumes you have prior knowledge of crochet, so it doesn't spell everything out; it's there to clarify which colors go where.
So you're not wrong...you're absolutely correct!
Portia,
Wait! Let's not give up. I sent you an email with some info per your emailed request.
We'll see if we can get you something workable. It really depends on the palette you're using since you're using a black and white image and need several shades of gray in yarn colors.
If you answer my email, we can take it from there.
Terry
Thanks to Debbie, member StitchMeKnot, we've now got a new area here for requesting beta testers. Ultimately this general board will suffice for those who want to discuss non-stitching crafts, multi crafts, etc. Since most crafters like to do more than one craft, this will facilitate bringing discussions of different crafts together.
