New! Caron One Pound, Caron Simply Soft and Herrschners 2-Ply Afghan palettes - thank you to BetwixtTheStitch!
New! The Herrschner's Worsted Palette - thank you to BetwixtTheStitch!
New! We've just added the palette for Deborah Norville Everyday Yarn! If you knit and/or crochet, this is for you. This is a beautiful yarn with a nice feel to it, a good alternative in worsted weight acrylic! (Thank you again to BetwixtTheStitch!)
New! The Red Heart Super Saver Palette - thank you to BetwixtTheStitch!
Welcome to Stitchboard! Feel free to sit and stay awhile. Check out our new Premier features. In addition to the ability to create larger patterns (up to 500 stitches wide), illusion knitting and private labeling (no more worries about editing those pesky and messy PDFs), we've just introduced Filet Crochet, our most popular request! We have many more features planned, too!

Welcome!
Line,
Awww, how sweet...he loves the hat so much, he won't take it off...so precious!
It really is flattering when something is appreciated, particularly with kids. Kids can be very honest until they get to the age where they learn self-editing, so to speak, and if they don't like something they'll say it!
So glad you won't have to redo it!
I hope the yarn does expand. If not...can you work into it at a later date? Or would you just make another?
Well, people are dumb, then, because I think it's lovely! So what if it's unusual...that's what makes it so interesting! Meh, who wants a "same old, same old" hat...boring.
That's the best part of all, and the main thing that counts, that Noah loves it. LOL, I mean, since it is for him, and all.
Hugs,
Melanie
Beloved (what a great name!),
Welcome!
Are you looking for ready-made patterns, or are you looking to make your own?
If you're looking for free patterns, my suggestion is to Google something that's of interest to you, along with the words "cross stitch" and "free." There's no one great source of free patterns...the one I used to use is no longer updated, hasn't been for years, and the majority of the links don't bring up anything close to patterns.
That said, I've searched for free patterns recently, and there are still plenty available. It may take a little bit to find certain things, but they can be found!
A source that isn't free, though is usually pretty nice, is if you can look at some cross stitch magazines. Since I first started cross stitching, the cross stitch magazine field has exploded! There are all kinds of magazines with terrific patterns. There are many long-term projects, or you can use them for quick projects, too. Not having a lot of time, I used to love the smaller projects! It's not instant gratification (LOL, what part of cross stitch ever is?), but it's pretty close.
Silvertiger,
I'm so glad, and thank you for letting me know that it works for you!
When I first tried picking up and knitting it was so daunting...after trying, I couldn't believe how easy it actually was (but don't tell anyone, so they'll think you've done something truly outstanding ).
Neave,
I hope you took pics...that sounds like a Kodak moment!

Teacup,
Welcome!
What a great
name! (We call our cat Little Teacup
sometimes, because we keep teacups with water around for her to
drink from. It tastes much better that way! )
Glad you found
us! Feel free to post pictures of your work so we can drool.
Ooh, Canada!
I've been there and love it! It's such an amazing place.
Jealous...I'd love to live there!
