New! Caron One Pound, Caron Simply Soft and Herrschners 2-Ply Afghan palettes - thank you to BetwixtTheStitch!
New! The Herrschner's Worsted Palette - thank you to BetwixtTheStitch!
New! We've just added the palette for Deborah Norville Everyday Yarn! If you knit and/or crochet, this is for you. This is a beautiful yarn with a nice feel to it, a good alternative in worsted weight acrylic! (Thank you again to BetwixtTheStitch!)
New! The Red Heart Super Saver Palette - thank you to BetwixtTheStitch!
Welcome to Stitchboard! Feel free to sit and stay awhile. Check out our new Premier features. In addition to the ability to create larger patterns (up to 500 stitches wide), illusion knitting and private labeling (no more worries about editing those pesky and messy PDFs), we've just introduced Filet Crochet, our most popular request! We have many more features planned, too!

Hi again Terry...
Test results continued...
I now reduced the ppi resolution to what it was originally (at 72ppi) and tired the tests again. I used all the same parameters as in the previous message for each test...
Manual choice of 4 colors...at a quick glance it looks exact to the 144 ppi resolution testing...
Rotate image...same results as 144 ppi...
Then the unlimited auto color select. Again same results 55 colors...will probably hold true for the last one as well...we'll see...
And finally, let limited to 4 auto color select full switchboard palette. Same result with errant colors...
Not sure if there is anything else but if you have more suggestions, please let me know.
Thanks again!
Kathy
What is the difference in making a pattern in square stitch mode vs rectangular stitch mode in the illusion knitting mode? I am trying to figure out why I would choose one over the other? Thanks for your help. Margaret
May I please be upgraded? Thank you.
I posted one FREE sewing book for Kindle for today...grab it before it's gone! (Note: you do not need to have an actual Kindle. If you have a smartphone, you can download a Kindle reader app for FREE...if all you have is a PC, you can download to your PC...and I believe there may also be a way now of completely bypassing any kind of reader app to read directly online - though please don't quote me on that, as I'm not sure. I find the PC reader to be quite decent for pattern content...since I don't own a Kindle, I can't say how well it works...but I would think a smaller screen would make patterns kind of difficult to read.)

Queenphalange,
Welcome!
Although I've
seen beginners start with large, complex projects, my first
instinct is always to have people start with smaller ones. As a
beginner, you want to learn how to read the pattern and handle your
project. I feel that an advanced project may not get you the
earlier steps you need for learning. I'm not saying you should hold
off forever, but perhaps trying a simple kit or two would be
helpful before starting something much larger.
I do think your idea of a SpiderMan cross stitch is
wonderful, so perhaps you could still plan it out while working a
smaller kit first?
You also have a
lovely day or night!
