In section 7 try turning the "color sensitivity" up to a higher number. This will begin combining colors and reduce the total number in a pattern.
You can also select "I will choose my colors" in section 5b and manually enter the colors you want. The program will then limit the pattern to only those colors.
You may also want to try turning on the "anti alias" in section 8.
There are other settings you can try but these are a few that may help.

I am using macOS Sierra Version 10.12.6. The specific problem I am having is the colors and the size. The picture has 2 Dachshunds that are black on top of a Heart in the middle that is red and the background is Gray. When I select the colors black, red and gray it is to dark. the black and red are too dark to read. If I select the option for color matching it is too dark. Can you help me with selecting the right colors?
I have been able to get the Ansi D to work. But there is a 1.5 inch margin on each side. I would like to have it with less margin .
If I could just get the colors so I can read them I can enlarge the pattern on my printer.
I can send you the picture if you want so you can see what I am trying to work with.

I enjoyed using the pattern wizzard for the first time. Was able to transfer a jpg of giraffes into a 24 month sweatern pattern.
QUESTION: Although the Wizard pattern asks for your stitch width, it does not allow you to input the vertail length. Am I missing something
