New! Caron One Pound, Caron Simply Soft and Herrschners 2-Ply Afghan palettes - thank you to BetwixtTheStitch!
New! The Herrschner's Worsted Palette - thank you to BetwixtTheStitch!
New! We've just added the palette for Deborah Norville Everyday Yarn! If you knit and/or crochet, this is for you. This is a beautiful yarn with a nice feel to it, a good alternative in worsted weight acrylic! (Thank you again to BetwixtTheStitch!)
New! The Red Heart Super Saver Palette - thank you to BetwixtTheStitch!
Welcome to Stitchboard! Feel free to sit and stay awhile. Check out our new Premier features. In addition to the ability to create larger patterns (up to 500 stitches wide), illusion knitting and private labeling (no more worries about editing those pesky and messy PDFs), we've just introduced Filet Crochet, our most popular request! We have many more features planned, too!

Mary,
Welcome!
I'm not sure what's going wrong for you, but one thing I've found when making graphs is to use an image that will work as closely as a 1:1 basis as possible, meaning 1 pixel = 1 stitch. I also look for better quality file formats, if possible. JPG isn't a very good one; GIF or PNG are better. Which doesn't mean you can't have a decent file in JPG format, just that for the most part JPGs aren't as good quality as GIF or PNG.
If the colors are giving you a problem, try to remember that yarn colors are very limited. Unlike cotton floss or beads, which give hundreds of choices and many different shaded color palettes, yarn is limited to a certain number of colors per line and manufacturer. Unfortunately, the reason manufacturers don't offer more choices is likely because it wouldn't be cost effective to, for instance, market 10 different greens, as they very likely wouldn't sell many of certain green shades.
Hope that helps!
Iddirisu,
Welcome!
At this time we don't have a way of converting a graph that wasn't made with the freePatternWizard to a written pattern. Currently, if you create a crochet or illusion knitting graph with the freePatternWizard, you can make a word chart, so if you still have your original image, perhaps you'd be best off running it through the freePatternWizard to get your new graph and word chart. Then you can disregard your current chart.
Hi!
I'm new here, but I can't seem to get the option to make a filet crochet chart to work. I select crochet but I can't select filet crochet. I didn't know if there was a problem with this function or if I'm doing something wrong.
thanks! Love your site!!!

StarDancer,
Welcome!
I'm sorry to
say we don't have the feature yet, but we do still have it in our
plans - it's one of our more frequently requested features!
