New! Caron One Pound, Caron Simply Soft and Herrschners 2-Ply Afghan palettes - thank you to BetwixtTheStitch!
New! The Herrschner's Worsted Palette - thank you to BetwixtTheStitch!
New! We've just added the palette for Deborah Norville Everyday Yarn! If you knit and/or crochet, this is for you. This is a beautiful yarn with a nice feel to it, a good alternative in worsted weight acrylic! (Thank you again to BetwixtTheStitch!)
New! The Red Heart Super Saver Palette - thank you to BetwixtTheStitch!
Welcome to Stitchboard! Feel free to sit and stay awhile. Check out our new Premier features. In addition to the ability to create larger patterns (up to 500 stitches wide), illusion knitting and private labeling (no more worries about editing those pesky and messy PDFs), we've just introduced Filet Crochet, our most popular request! We have many more features planned, too!

Hi, Calipage.
I see what you're talking about. As we have always posted, we initially did our best to get the colors right for beads, yarn, and floss. Once in a while someone reports an incorrect color but after a few years, there are not as many problems.
I did just scan through the Delica palette of colors and verified that DB1744 is the only one that is entered as nearly black when it should have color. I'll correct this color as soon as I post this message. One other problem we have with bead colors is that there is not really a standard color value from which we can enter into our database. Even bead manufacturers don't have color values by which we can use.
As an example, here are a few different images of DB1744 beads:
These images are from various sources, all showing DB1744. I realize none are close to black but I'm just letting you know that the colors we use in our palettes may or may not be the actual colors you see when you get the beads.
So in answer to your question, it's rare to find a color that's way off in our program (like this particular bead color). It was definitely incorrect in the database and will get corrected immediately.
We also thank everyone who does report incorrect, discontinued, or new colors.
I apologize for this and actually just updated the database. Here are the before and after colors:
Terry
Neave,
Just as I suspected...just let them live their lives...very separate lives! Nobody needs crap like that.
Aloha and welcome!
Well, shame on your friends for not believing you made the things you did! I don't know how concerned you are with proving you did make them, but perhaps send a couple of photos - action shots of you crocheting?
LOL, a crochet intervention? They need to know that's simply not going to work!
I think you're absolutely right...they're jealous.
Crocheting is very relaxing, isn't it? It's soooooo soothing. And then you have something tangible when done...win win!
Feel free to post pics of your work so we can drool!l And nobody here will think your neighbors made your works!
Line,
Awww, my thoughts exactly! If I'm making such a blanket, it's because I really care about the person, and that means nothing small!
I'm so sorry there are some bittersweet things happening right along with the move. That must have broken your heart about your cat. I'm glad at least you'll know all about her...it's so horrible when someone won't give you info and you never hear again...and to get pics...fantastic!
And I'm sorry about your grandmother...that's always hard to take.
I'm very sorry it feels like something is missing after all you're going through. Maybe the thing to remember is that this is a very good, positive thing, and at some point the bad feelings will subside and stop overshadowing your happiness.
Ouch, six exams? That said, you'll do well...I know it!

Lesa,
Welcome!
The stitch to
use, if you're in the US, is a single crochet. if you use any other
stitch (such as a double crochet), your graphghan will turn out
skewed. The only exception is if you choose certain stitches, such
as Tunisian, in which case you'd work Tunisian.
The graph is like any other crochet graph, worked side
to side, first on one side, then returning the other
way.
I'm not sure what you're referring to
about "color with the number." If you're looking at a graph, you
will see, perhaps, 3 of the squares have a blue, so then you'd work
3 stitches in blue. If you're following a word pattern, that's
different. It tells you how many stitches to work of each color, in
order.
