New!  We've just added the palette for Deborah Norville Everyday Yarn!  If you knit and/or crochet, this is for you.  This is a beautiful yarn with a nice feel to it, a good alternative in worsted weight acrylic!  (Thank you again to BetwixtTheStitch!)

New!  The Red Heart Super Saver Palette - thank you to BetwixtTheStitch!

Welcome to Stitchboard!  Feel free to sit and stay awhile.  Check out our new Premier features.  In addition to the ability to create larger patterns (up to 500 stitches wide), illusion knitting and private labeling (no more worries about editing those pesky and messy PDFs), we've just introduced Filet Crochet, our most popular request!  We have many more features planned, too!  Laughing

Hi everyone!
In June 2019, my grandma gave me a plastic canvas/half cross stitching/needlepoint kit. I was so happy with the result that I bought a cross stitch kit, which I loved even more. Now, almost a year later I am still stitching, with a sickening amount of patterns that are waiting to be stitched. I have a sort of addiction to buying patterns, but the ones I have started are looking good so far. I am so lucky to have cross stitch, especially during this time. Imagine all of the people who have nothing better to do and just sit on their phones all day! At least we get to create beautiful things. I started sewing when I was seven and have always loved to stitch, coming from a long line of tailors. I found Stitchboard, and I am very happy because I was looking for a good photo conversion software--and this is free! I still do plastic canvas/needlepoint, but cross stitching is my favorite. I also do a little knitting and crochet. I very much dislike, howver, when people call my cross stitching "crochet".  Does that bother anyone else?
Anyhow, cross stitching is a great way to spend time. People often ask me how I did it, and they refuse to believe me on how simple it is. I made every possible mistake, however. I started at the very corner, not the center, I used all six strands of floss, and, until recently, my stitches were not in the same direction. Read instructions and watch videos first! Besides these painful regrets, cross stitching has enhanced my life and my mood. I am happy to be a part of the stitchboard community: I was looking for good cross-stitch forums and a place to sell my patterns! Smile

Hi
Thank you for your amazing cross stitch pattern maker. I have made my pattern using DMC threads. The pattern maker has listed the colours I need but how many skeins of each colour do I need? Is it one of each colour listed? There is a lot of white in my pattern so surely I would need more of that?
Is there an approximate number of stitches per skein so I can work it out according to the stitch count for each colour?
Thanks
Nicky

Melanie,
Thank you so much.  After sitting at the computer and having it print out the pattern and the words, I understand it and you made it clearer.  Of course, when I first went in to print it out, I forgot to tell it Red Heart, so I ended up printing a standard chart.  I am a Dufas.  I like challenges.  I am going to print out only the 23 rows, first group of 4 pages.  Then I am going to purchase a new ink cartarage so that I am prepared to print out the next 4 pages.  My luck, I will run out of ink during the night time when I crouchet.
You have been a lot of help.
Have a great rest of the weekend.  I am excited to start the 325th project that I have going at the same time as the 324 that I have going.  Kidding, only 10 projects of different kinds.  So, I don't get bored.

De'Andrea,

Awww, wow, your kitty lived to be so old! Kiss My childhood kitties had long lives like that. I told our kitty now that she's not allowed to die on us...EVER. Seriously, I hope she'll be with us a good long time. Kiss

I, too, would love to see Shelley's wire work. I tried it once...couldn't do it. The wire was uncooperative. Frown

Hi there,

I am trying to create my first graph for crochet.

I have read many of the posts on here regarding images etc.  I have tried resizing the image and making sure it's .png.

I am having issues with the image looking blurry and leaving shadows on the graph, so it is adding colours that are not there.

Thanks in advance.
