New! Caron One Pound, Caron Simply Soft and Herrschners 2-Ply Afghan palettes - thank you to BetwixtTheStitch!
New! The Herrschner's Worsted Palette - thank you to BetwixtTheStitch!
New! We've just added the palette for Deborah Norville Everyday Yarn! If you knit and/or crochet, this is for you. This is a beautiful yarn with a nice feel to it, a good alternative in worsted weight acrylic! (Thank you again to BetwixtTheStitch!)
New! The Red Heart Super Saver Palette - thank you to BetwixtTheStitch!
Welcome to Stitchboard! Feel free to sit and stay awhile. Check out our new Premier features. In addition to the ability to create larger patterns (up to 500 stitches wide), illusion knitting and private labeling (no more worries about editing those pesky and messy PDFs), we've just introduced Filet Crochet, our most popular request! We have many more features planned, too!

Dawn,
Though we've been planning to introduce fonts at some point, we don't yet have them available. The best I can suggest for now is to create a graphic image with a heart shape and a very clear font to make your words. When I say a very clear font, that means nothing that would tend to get "lost." Part of the problem with uploading images with words is some fonts are beautiful, but they have thinner and thicker lines, where the thinner lines do tend to get lost in the image, and the message then won't be clear in the finished pattern.
I'm hoping we'll have fonts available in the near future, but as there's a list of about 100 features we'd like to add to the freePatternWizard, that may not be possible for the short term. I guess it's a good problem that we'd like to expand it so much, but as everything has to be worked into the program, it's not so simple, unfortunately.
I posted one FREE polymer clay book for Kindle for today...grab it before it's gone! (Note: you do not need to have an actual Kindle. If you have a smartphone, you can download a Kindle reader app for FREE...if all you have is a PC, you can download to your PC...and I believe there may also be a way now of completely bypassing any kind of reader app to read directly online - though please don't quote me on that, as I'm not sure. I find the PC reader to be quite decent for pattern content...since I don't own a Kindle, I can't say how well it works...but I would think a smaller screen would make patterns kind of difficult to read.)

Peggy,
Hi and welcome!
So glad you stopped by. Feel free to post pictures of your work...we love to drool here! You must be very busy making all of those items...and the best kind of busy that is, to be doing what you enjoy! I'm sure the recipients of such beautiful handmade items are very, very thankful for what you do.
Melanie,
Of course there's no way to know ahead of time.
But for instance there is a website (sourceforge I think) that used to be a very reliable place to get clean programs. This last time I downloaded from them, I got malware.
So I did some research and learned that some of the developers have moved away from them because of what they are allowing.
The best we can do is to try to make sure we are getting straight from the source, if possible.
I'll have to look and see if OO has a reader, I've had adobe and haven't had a reason to look.
I did a little more research on linux yesterday and found one they say works out of the box, so hopefully it will be as easy as installing windows. Cross your toes for me please.
