New! Caron One Pound, Caron Simply Soft and Herrschners 2-Ply Afghan palettes - thank you to BetwixtTheStitch!

New!  The Herrschner's Worsted Palette - thank you to BetwixtTheStitch!

New!  We've just added the palette for Deborah Norville Everyday Yarn!  If you knit and/or crochet, this is for you.  This is a beautiful yarn with a nice feel to it, a good alternative in worsted weight acrylic!  (Thank you again to BetwixtTheStitch!)

New!  The Red Heart Super Saver Palette - thank you to BetwixtTheStitch!

Welcome to Stitchboard!  Feel free to sit and stay awhile.  Check out our new Premier features.  In addition to the ability to create larger patterns (up to 500 stitches wide), illusion knitting and private labeling (no more worries about editing those pesky and messy PDFs), we've just introduced Filet Crochet, our most popular request!  We have many more features planned, too!  Laughing

I just sent you an email.  I look forward to trying them out.

Cali,

We've discussed this issue...thank you for letting us know! Smile Terry will check and correct those three colors and is putting a priority on scanning through the entire palette to see if he sees any other colors that need to be corrected.

Matraca,

Welcome!  Smile

Using the full color palette is not recommended, and you've discovered the reason why: no manufacturers are interested in making that many colors, as they would likely be stuck with skeins and skeins of unsold yarns in the least popular colors, making the endeavor highly unprofitable.

This is why we've recommended the Basic Palette for yarn.  While we can't guarantee manufacturers are going to have all of the colors, you'll find it far easier to match those basic colors to yarns than the many colors that are in the full palette.

You could attempt matching from brand to brand, but then you'll find it's going to be difficult to keep a constant gauge going.  Having tested many yarns, though they may all be rated the same size, most are different, which would make parts of your work larger and other parts smaller, and if you're looking for something that's got a nice, even gauge, you'll really be fighting to keep it uniform.

Despite the fact that the Basic Palette leaves a lot to be desired, it's much more realistic for matching yarns than the Full Palette.

I have just discovered that I am mistaken in reading the WS rows on these charts.

PLEASE DO NOT USE THESE CHARTS YET.  I am reworking them and will update the thread accordingly shortly.

I apologize for the inconvenience!  I'm still learning too.

UPDATE:  All charts posted in this thread are now accurate.  I have taken down the moss stitch tutorial until I am able to rewrite it.

Thank you!

UPDATE 2:  I'm also getting caught in the upgrade for some reason.  A post I just made didn't come through at all; there is no red banner at the moment.  I will be waiting to make any more updates until I know the coast is clear!!!  LOL ...

THANKFULLY, this did not happen while I spent several hours updating the 1st post!

WOAH ... I can edit ... but I can create new posts ... interesting ...

Shiravila,

You've been upgraded!  Have fun!

Terry
