New! Caron One Pound, Caron Simply Soft and Herrschners 2-Ply Afghan palettes - thank you to BetwixtTheStitch!

New!  The Herrschner's Worsted Palette - thank you to BetwixtTheStitch!

New!  We've just added the palette for Deborah Norville Everyday Yarn!  If you knit and/or crochet, this is for you.  This is a beautiful yarn with a nice feel to it, a good alternative in worsted weight acrylic!  (Thank you again to BetwixtTheStitch!)

New!  The Red Heart Super Saver Palette - thank you to BetwixtTheStitch!

Welcome to Stitchboard!  Feel free to sit and stay awhile.  Check out our new Premier features.  In addition to the ability to create larger patterns (up to 500 stitches wide), illusion knitting and private labeling (no more worries about editing those pesky and messy PDFs), we've just introduced Filet Crochet, our most popular request!  We have many more features planned, too!  Laughing

Hi, and thanks for your feedback!

I'm currently winding up some more server updates for future growth of the program and help handling the increased usage.

Once I finish these internal changes I'll be back to program updates.  One long-awaited feature will be the ability to do final pattern editing before printing.

There will also be an ability to save your work so you could get your settings the way you like and save them.  Then you could come back at a later date, load your settings from before, possibly make further changes, create a new pattern, and save the new settings if you like.  Time will tell if there will be limits to the number of saved "work" files.  I think this will fill the needs you mentioned.

I'll know more about when a bunch of new features will begin rolling out as soon as I finish the system upgrades but rest assured, I'm working on it on our end.

Terry

Your English is fine and even us who are native to English don't always speak so well either. Smile  I hope that you are able to learn and teach us here in this community.

I am trying to download a pattern I created. When I click "download my pattern" it takes me back to the site home screen.
Please help.
Thank you
Sara

Welcome!  Smile

At this time the freePatternWizard doesn't have the ability to edit patterns, though this is a feature that is in development.  In the meantime, you may want to choose a single color to represent several different symbols; for instance, if you have a letter A as a red and a letter B as a pink, you could choose one color that will be used for both A and B, rather than one color for each symbol.  In this way you can eliminate several of the "single" stitches by working blocks of similar colors as only one color.  Chances are that you'll probably never notice a difference, since you're likely more interested in focusing on your grandparents' faces and not your grandmother's dress!

Another alternative is to leave out the floral design on the dress entirely by making it one single color.  Say your grandmother's dress is navy blue...you could make the entire thing navy blue and not bother with the floral pattern at all.

Deb,

The problem is if you're trying to use the freePatternWizard to take an original that's much too large or much too small, you'll get the result where you won't be able to tell what your pattern is when you look at it.

The freePatternWizard isn't a graphics program, so it can't be used that way.

What you'd be best off doing is taking a graphics program and enlarging or reducing your image to the correct dimension across in pixels, in this case, 244 pixels, and then that will give you a better image to input to the freePatternWizard.

If you don't have a graphics program, here are two very powerful free ones:
