New! Caron One Pound, Caron Simply Soft and Herrschners 2-Ply Afghan palettes - thank you to BetwixtTheStitch!
New! The Herrschner's Worsted Palette - thank you to BetwixtTheStitch!
New! We've just added the palette for Deborah Norville Everyday Yarn! If you knit and/or crochet, this is for you. This is a beautiful yarn with a nice feel to it, a good alternative in worsted weight acrylic! (Thank you again to BetwixtTheStitch!)
New! The Red Heart Super Saver Palette - thank you to BetwixtTheStitch!
Welcome to Stitchboard! Feel free to sit and stay awhile. Check out our new Premier features. In addition to the ability to create larger patterns (up to 500 stitches wide), illusion knitting and private labeling (no more worries about editing those pesky and messy PDFs), we've just introduced Filet Crochet, our most popular request! We have many more features planned, too!

Hi! I just found this thread accidentally but in fact, upgrading my stitch limit would tremendously help my project. I have currently planned 240x240 stitches.
So, I know I am new here and I don't want to be rude and barge in, but can I please be upgraded to 300, too? Pretty please?
Thank you very much in advance!!
I posted two FREE soap making books for Kindle for today...grab them before they're gone! (Note: you do not need to have an actual Kindle. If you have a smartphone, you can download a Kindle reader app for FREE...if all you have is a PC, you can download to your PC...and I believe there may also be a way now of completely bypassing any kind of reader app to read directly online - though please don't quote me on that, as I'm not sure. I find the PC reader to be quite decent for pattern content...since I don't own a Kindle, I can't say how well it works...but I would think a smaller screen would make patterns kind of difficult to read.)

Hello, and welcome.
In general, the grid is one stitch for each square. It's geared for single crochet or tunisian, so (for instance) if you were to use a double crochet, the proportions would be a bit off.
Hope that helps a little.
Joan,
Woo hoo! So happy to hear the Free Pattern Wizard has helped you! it's really nice to be able to take a graphic you like and turn it into a pattern. I'm so glad you had a suitable picture of a rhino to turn into a pattern...and can't wait to see how it turns out!

Evelyne,
Standard stitch is what
we called single crochet in this case, because users from the UK
call a single crochet a double crochet. We felt standard would be
less confusing than calling it single and double.
C2C is not recommended in this case. A C2C stitch is
square, whereas a regular single crochet stitch is rectangular, so
your pattern would be skewed. At a future time we'll offer C2C, but
it isn't available at the moment and I'm sorry to say we don't have
a specific date for when it will be available.
