New! Caron One Pound, Caron Simply Soft and Herrschners 2-Ply Afghan palettes - thank you to BetwixtTheStitch!
New! The Herrschner's Worsted Palette - thank you to BetwixtTheStitch!
New! We've just added the palette for Deborah Norville Everyday Yarn! If you knit and/or crochet, this is for you. This is a beautiful yarn with a nice feel to it, a good alternative in worsted weight acrylic! (Thank you again to BetwixtTheStitch!)
New! The Red Heart Super Saver Palette - thank you to BetwixtTheStitch!
Welcome to Stitchboard! Feel free to sit and stay awhile. Check out our new Premier features. In addition to the ability to create larger patterns (up to 500 stitches wide), illusion knitting and private labeling (no more worries about editing those pesky and messy PDFs), we've just introduced Filet Crochet, our most popular request! We have many more features planned, too!

Kirsten,
Welcome!
Nothing to be embarrassed about, my dear, because you did finally make it here after all! Feel free to post some pics of your work, even if it wasn't created by the freePatternWizard. As for transforming pictures into patterns (templing fingers), this is a problem we addicts all must deal with at one time or another. And I do say you're perfectly normal, or at least you look that way to me.
Neave,
It really is wrong, and what's more, it's not like they can't afford it. They keep making record profits, but the only place that goes is right to the top. The employees get nothing and nothing, a crap salary and no bonuses. You would think people at the top with money would try to treat employees well, but I'm sure the employees are nothing more than chattel to them.
I'd better be quiet before I start getting really wound up.
Kim, member kmargittai, has graciously allowed us to give her pattern away for free here in the Community, so you can get an idea of how an illusion knitting chart works.
Please note that the PDF is a bit different in the beginning and near the middle of the pattern. Kim ended up knitting only 4 rows at the beginning instead of 12 (I would do the same, as 12 rows aren't really necessary before starting the pattern) and again she changed the 12 rows between 61 and 80 to only 8 rows. The extra rows aren't really needed, but if you want more knit rows at the beginning and between the 2 + 2 and the = 4, by all means, use the pattern exactly as charted. The nice thing with the plain knit rows is that it's about how you want them to look, not critical to the illusion pattern, so there's no right or wrong way to do it!

It All Adds Up Illusion Pattern
I dont use Trend Micro. And I do use standard 8.5x11 paper. The pdf tha was blank was the one you can open jus aftr the patter was created. I never did get an email with a pdf, blank or otherwise. I will be happ to provide the image to you. How would you like me to send that?
I posted one FREE crochet book for Kindle for today...grab it before it's gone! (Note: you do not need to have an actual Kindle. If you have a smartphone, you can download a Kindle reader app for FREE...if all you have is a PC, you can download to your PC...and I believe there may also be a way now of completely bypassing any kind of reader app to read directly online - though please don't quote me on that, as I'm not sure. I find the PC reader to be quite decent for pattern content...since I don't own a Kindle, I can't say how well it works...but I would think a smaller screen would make patterns kind of difficult to read.)
