Hello! I need help

I'm trying to make a repeated pattern for a curtain. I have found where an Admin answered (for the size of stitches is the size of pixels) so I shrunk the design, multipule times, and even added smaller images to the paper (what would be a standard size print of paper) I shrunk the size to 75, but it still is printing out too large with 4 pages to over 100 pages... my window is much smaller. LOL

I have a Queen Anne home with tall windows, if I was to use a standard piece of printing paper, my window is a bit over two sheets widith.

The image below I'm trying to get 2-3 to fill it's space as a printed graph, so that I can have multipules. Or even at least two instead of one huge centered piece. Something. I'm at my wits end with this. I looked, and I cannot find any dumbed down instructions on how to do things.    Is someone be able to help me with this?

I'm using a #1 Super Fine crochet thread Aunt Lydias Fashion 3 size   (I'm not sure why the different numbers, but there are three threads in the yarn) with a 1.90 MM crochet hook.

I purchased the filet and 500 stitch count on the premier options, but I fear that I'm not able to use them now.

Welcome!

First, I'm wondering if you're measuring your pattern according to the width of the pages on which it's printed to get the dimensions? This is actually not the measurement you're looking for.

What you're looking for is your gauge, based on the size hook, the stitch (filet blocks in this case), the fiber you're using and, well, you!

No two people crochet exactly the same, so what you need to do is use the hook you've chosen and the fiber and then crochet at least a 4 inch x 4 inch swatch in filet, using both empty and full blocks. When you know your gauge, e.g., how many blocks per inch, you'll then know how many blocks in "stitches" and "rows" you'll need for the measurements of your windows. (If you find you're not able to get the result you want - say, your blocks are a bit too large, you can go down one hook size and swatch again.)

This is the measurement you'll need to know how many blocks you'll need for your particular windows. Hope that helps!

With my lace I get 4 blocks per inch, with my cotton thread I get 2 blocks per inch

This is with 3dc and 3ch used to make the full and empty blocks.

The lace, Im wanting to make my aunt a scarf with roses.

Okay, So here it is:

Lace: 4" = 15 blocks/ 4 blocks per 1 inch.

Cotton Thread: 4" = 11 blocks/2 per 1"

■ Lace Scarf 12" wide total, but 2 inches is side trim.

■ Curtain 30-1/2" wide with 2" off for trim.

I played with a rose image for the scarf and it destroyed the image. So Im not sure what Im to do now.

Okay, as far as the rose image is concerned, did you put it through as pixels=squares? The freePatternWizard unfortunately isn't a graphics program, so if you're putting through something that's, for example, 800 pixels wide and trying to bring it down to 100, it's going to fail because it doesn't know what you'd want to keep, so it will choose arbitrarily.

If my math is correct (PLEASE check!) the scarf should be 40 blocks wide. Is your pattern 40 pixels=40 blocks?

As for the curtain, if my math is correct (again, PLEASE check!) it's 57 blocks wide. Is the problem that you're finding it hard to reduce the original repeating pattern down to 57 blocks?

Also note that if you're reducing/resizing a jpg that will likely introduce odd pixels that will make the finished image less than desirable. Unfortunately, a jpg is what's considered a "lossy" image because it does lose definition, unlike a more stable and defined image like a gif. But I know some images you just can't find as gifs and changing an image from a jpg to a gif won't be the same.

It would be nice if it worked that way, sigh.
