When a project becomes a whole nuther species

A friend gave me a pattern book this past Thursday.  I decided to try one of the patterns, a swing back coat sweater.  Well!  It's turning out quite nicely, BUT, it won't fit my cousin, for whom it was intended.  She's about four inches taller than I am (I'm 5ft 6).

Instead, this is turning into a coat dress that will fit one of my young nieces who is 11yo.  Dad GUM why didn't I swatch?  Actually, I like what's turning out but it won't fit the original recipient.

Back to the drawing board.

Just think of it as practice for the next one.  Wink

Good idea.  It's not as if this will be my last project, well at least, I hope not.  Thank you Marilyn.

Oh, the horror!  I can certainly empathize...after all of that work, and now you have to start over, argh!  Sad

This is why I'm pretty much a scarf, hat, afghan, shawl person. Socks are about as fitted as I am able to go. Are you going to keep going and give it to your niece?

Hi Pepper, yes I am.  I'm stretching my learning curve BIG TIME, but whoever fits this sucker will get it.  It's actually pretty but it won't fit the 11 year old.  It might actually end up on an adult after all.  I'll keep on knitting and see where it ends up.  Wink  What are you up to?

Not to worry, this is just another adventure.  I'm half way through the first sleeve.  Both front sides came out of one skein.  I'm not certain I'll get both sleeves out of one skein.  It hit me today that I *might* have to buy another skein.  I'm still chuckling up my sleeve about the whole venture.

I think for relief, I'll make a simple sweater on either the 260 or the LK150 after this.  I've never had a sweater fail on them so it will boost my confidence again.

I do have to say, 2 sticks is a WHOLE lot more complicated sometimes, but I so enjoy knitting.  It triggers my "this will not defeat me" gene.  Cool

Charlene

PS if no one fits it, I'll give it to a passerby.

Darn!  I thought you had it all figured out...hope someone fits it!

Charlene,

You sure are adventurous!  I probably would have given up on it and left it sitting somewhere.
